Non-binary transmasculine here. I want to start a low dose of T, because everything about my body shape gives me dysphoria and my talking voice gives me dysphoria. BUT my first soprano singing voice is something that I LOVE!

i'm not a soprano but i can go into soprano range (including whistle notes) and i really don't wanna lose my higher range (especially since im into theater and some of my dream roles have very high notes) but i so wanna go on T in the future 😭 if you've been on T since you've posted this comment could you lmk how ur range is?

I am not a professional singer by any means but I am one of those singers that like to sing while doing the dishes, taking a shower, hanging out with friends etc. I could always carry a note, but again, I am nowhere near professional nor do I do it every day. However I found that I have lost much of my singing voice and I am upset. I can't even hit the lower high notes because my voice is constantly cracking, even when I'm talking. Some syllables go silent and then my voice comes back. I don't know how long it takes a voice to break but this has been going on for several months. Oh and by the way I am, as of today, 5 1/2 months on T. I've always had a lower voice in general and I do hear it dropping even more but I am truly concerned that I may not get that back. I know it's unfounded, or should I say not very common, and it should be fine once my voice breaks as my doctor had stated to me. But I was wondering since you @MackMan are a singer, what every day voice exercises would you share with me to help me keep my vocal chords warmed up and also help me get back to stabilizing different notes. I would appreciate any input from anyone in the comment section and of course Mack. Thanks in advance!!! P.s. Not only does my voice crack, it will go up really high when I speak sometimes, also sometimes when I'm speaking sometimes my voice comes in and out. It will just be gone one second and back the next. And also when I'm trying to sing I'm having a problem stabilizing notes where I literally cannot make my vocal chords stay on pitch whatsoever. Absolutely no control when that happens. And it's very frustrating.

Hey man! Always love your comments :) Yeah, month 5 was the absolute worst for my voice haha. It was ALL over the place. Something really easy is to pick a low note and just hold it for as long as you can, even if it's cracking. "Ahhhhh (crack) ahhh (crack) ahhh." And then pick a higher note. And just pick a bunch of notes, trying to stabilize them. So you know scales? If you have a piano, you can climb your way up the piano, and down. It's hard to explain some exercises through text, but I'd look up "easy vocal warmups" :)

MackMan yeah it is rough lol. But I love my voice changing more. Lol. I think I do know what you mean. From high school choir. Like this? La. la, la ,la ,la ,la. Bum bum,... la, la, la,la,la,la,la,..bum bum! I think that's what you mean by scales. It's been awhile. Lol. Yeas I do have a smallish Yamaha keyboard that I have and am going to attempt to teach myself that and guitar. I have an acoustic Yamaha. Just a cheap $100 one but it has a beautiful tone. Back to scales. I remember doing that in school a million yeas ago and I have started doing that the last week or so on and off. So I will continue to do that. Yeah I figured it might be hard to explain over text but I figured there was no harm in trying. Lol. I have loved music my whole life. My oldest sister has a beautiful voice. And I have always aspired to have a voice like her's but I just don't. Lol. Oh well. As long as I can sing at all makes my soul happy. Even if it's to be able to carry a tune , pitch and note correctly. Who knows maybe my voice will improve simple by actually taking it more seriously and practicing daily. Well I'm sure it will actually. Lol. Thanks for replying back to me. It's good of you to do that. Thank you. Keep up the good work with your videos and Congratulations again in your top surgery. It looks great! I know it's hard with the pain and bruising on the one side. But I know you are extremely happy and I am so very happy for you. I look forward to having my top surgery one day as well. Good talking to you and cheers!!

I am finally starting testosterone on Oct. 3 which is next tuesday....I have waited two years to get to this point and I can't believe it is finally happening. I love singing and I can't wait for my voice to drop. However i am living in my college dorm and I can't really sing cuz i am living with these other guys and they all think I am cis...so I can't sing cuz i don't want to reveal my regular voice...Atleast i will be going home every so often like every month or so....maybe when my voice drops a bit then i can sing a bit more.

i went on one full pack testogel every day for one month and then doctor gave me nebido T-injektion 6 weeks interval untill 3d i got every 12th.... now he highten the dose after half year to one 400nebido-Tinjektion every 11th week.. originallt i lost all my singing voice and i even lost my voice when speaking i could barely speak a or sing a tune for a few months so i substituted whistling all the time...(and i've become a pro at whistling!!) but now after somewhat 8-9or 10 months (i havent counted maybe it's a year now?!) on T im starting to regain the ability to sing adn amasingly enough i only lost a few notes in the middle i gained loads darker but havent lost any of the light ones.... so i would say that if you do not push it during the times you cant speak/sing there is no problem and you wont lose your voice for good :) (thou i should point out maybe that my original singingspectra always been 4.5oktavas wide (with a gap of half an octav before the lowest 1 oktav whos now increasign downwards))

My main worry about going on T isnt losing my singing voice in total- but i can currently sing REALLY HIGH and despite everything i feel i love love looove my high range. I can sing vocaloid songs like its nothing most days (for those who dont know many of those are REALLY high)... i was hoping i could just get surgery but after some research it seems i HAVE to be on T for a year before im allowed... im already masculine/neutral built for being "born female" but im specifically uncomfortable with my genitalia...
@anameig9332

Nice to see a vocaloid listener although I'm late, I'm nothing close to a singer or anything, but there's a few utaites that I think you can look for, although I'm not sure if there's any educational value, they're all amazing singers though Kyounosuke yoshitate is a trans guy singer and he's done a few vocaloid covers, his voice preT and after t both sounds amazing and since he has experience transitioning, I think it's good to hear the experience in general Piko, mafumafu, wolpis karter are all cis dudes with incredible singing range, araki too and he mainly uses chest voice, which is a slightly different approach I sing a little but my range and tone itself is making me dysphoric, which is the only dysphoria I had during start of puberty, man I feel like crap when I can't hit notes below E3, despite having a low range I still sound feminine most of the time. Still doubting that I'm actually trans but I don't think I can medically transition without severe social consequences. I hope transitioning goes/went smoothly for you and you retain your singing voice or found a better solution to singing so you can sing vocaloid happily

@@anameig9332 omg thank you for this comment- initially this being cool becasue woah ive already ben out for over 2 years???? Anyway i really like the high pitch capabilities that came with my og voice Ive been [kind of] on T for a bit now (been really busy since i started- so i have a hard time taking it consistently). Ive mostly been just trying to train my voice to keep what i can, and finding ways to make up for anything i lost at this point (which so far, likely do to being inconsistent LOL, hasnt been *that* much) I like playing games that contain readable dialogue (ex: Danganronpa has been *huge* for me lately) and doing voices for it which actually has been helping too i think. In fact in that way i think ive gotten new ways to have an expansive range- its really fun!!! Main thing i just need to except is that i dont have to match it perfectly, even if that was something i was (and for now, still often am) proud of. I do it for fun so its not detrimental unless i let it be. I cannnn go *slightly* lower in voice now which is really fun and feels so right, too- so with my feelings on this i do think it wont be the end of the world for me to adjust how i go about things if i keep getting a shrink or shift in range but so far i seem in atleast a fine range for what my favorite things to sing are Sorry if this was rambly mumbly or incoherent i decided to respond even though my sleeping medication is kicking in Ur comment was cool and made me happy Hope u figure out ur gender scenarios and get to be yippee bout yee Yayyy : D

Do you think its possible to gain a better singing voice on T?
@joeblack3451
7 жыл бұрын
Elliott pope I can only speak for myself, but I think mine is getting better. Mostly I think because I hated it so much before that I just like it better now anyways, but also because disphoria messed with me unconsciously and I developped singing technique problems that I couldn't solve pre-t. But now that my voice is lower I slowly but surly am overcoming those "mental blockades" and my singing technique is starting to improve I feel. I just feel so much more confident with my voice that I now dare to do things and relax better which I couldn't really before. But that's just how I feel 🤷🏻♂️

Keegan Harris you don't take pills unless you wanna shred your liver. Also not exactly true because there are people who experienced more changes with gel quicker than they did with injections or patches or subdermals. It all depends on your body.
