When it comes to my cell phone, if there is a number I don't recognize, I don't answer. If it's important, the caller will leave a message.

If you use public Wi-Fi regularly, then invest in a VPN service. They run about $30/year. It's an easy to use tool that creates a secure connection or tunnel for all your internet usage so others can't see what you are doing. They work for your mobile devices or laptops.

Working from home or making passive income is probably a scam when they claim you can earn a lot of money in a short amount of time. It takes time to make passive income work. It's unfortunate that people fall for scams and lose money. Especially when it comes to the elderly.

Great information. I work with recovery of wire fraud/scam and wire research. Scam truly affects a mass of age ranges from senior investors to young adults. Scams can be as "obvious" as the Nigerian prince but they can definetly be more sophisticated like an escrow wire fraud when purchasing a home. This is a great reminder to guard your assets.

That happened to my son but he didn't know it was counterfeit until he went to the bank. Thank the Lord we had renters insurance and he got his money back.

I had a pop-up on my mac that said that Mac Support indicated there was a problem and that I needed to call the number. I ended up being a victim of identity theft because they said I needed some sort of repair patch. I was pregnant and sleep deprived and fell for it. It will never be MAC support. If you have an Apple device contact Apple. They will not charge you for help. Please save yourself the mess!

My mum had someone make a fake profile of her sister and ask for money, and she calls her sister and asks her if everything is okay (which it was). So she kept humouring this person and talking to them for a while, and then pointed out to them that they had stolen profile images and to stop...

I wonder if there is a best way to keep track of online passwords. If they are automatically saved on your device, is that risky? I guess I don't know what hackers could potentially see.

Not all work at home opportunities are scams. :-/ Just wanted to throw that out there. There are legit network marketing companies and you have to WORK, but it's an entreprenerualship position and not for everyone.
