Ah, it is SO helpful to see you actually doing this rather than just reading instructions and then trying on my own. I had struggled with just HOW one was to pick up/make a st for each side, but SEEING how you do it, and now understanding I needed to be going under both sides of a st to make one, clarified things for me. And, as a "recovering perfectionist," I especially appreciated your casually saying that if one has a hole, just sew it up later. I don't have to feel guilty that my first two mittens had just such a problem. THANKS!

I discovered short dpns and they are wonderful for small numners of stitches that need to be knit in the round. They really help eliminate the fiddliness when knitting thumbs, sock toes etc. very nice tutorial Arnie. hint. Arnie i hear you say you get confused on the words Right and Left. This is how i taught my kids when they were little and learning left from right. remember what hand you eat and write with, that Is either your left or right..... Once you remember the name of the hand you eat with , the left and right confusion will go away.

I really owe you a huge debt. I was not able to use dpns until I watched your videos. Because of previous injuries using 9 inch circulars is the best way for me to knit socks, and soon my first mittens, without so much pain that I have to stop frequently. However you reach a point where you have to switch to magic loop to finish decreasing if you're unable to use dpns. To put it plainly, that sucks. But now I can switch to dpns and finish the socks quick enough that pain is avoided, and I'm no longer stretching my yarn to its limit and damaging it. Because of you guys I can now attempt my first mittens and gloves. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!💖💕💞!

Dear Arne & Carlos - thank you for another lovely video. I am enjoying watching you both very much. In the video where you showed us your vintage jumper collection you said we should comment if we recognised a piece inspired by Arne's grandmother's jumper. So that is what this comment is for. The cardigan Carlos is wearing I think the detail across the chest/shoulders looks like the pattern and also the cuff detail. Thank you again for all your hard work and delightful designs.

Thanks for the video! I noticed as Arne was picking up stitches for the thumb that on the top of the waste yarn he picked up the right side of the stitch and later knit through it normally. However, on the bottom of the waste yarn he picked up the left leg and later knit it through the back loop. I imagine this has something to do with making the transition into the thumb as smooth as possible. Would you all be willing to explain what you are doing there and why? Thanks!
@rachelcrosby4599

When he knits through the back loop it is because the stitches he picked up are twisted , this untwists them.

Savita Singh Arne and Carlos almost never wear their own designs, instead they prefer to wear pieces from their extensive collection of vintage knit wear. The sweater Arne is wearing is not knitted by him, it's from late 70s or early 80s.
