When I taught myself to knit 5 years ago, I *KNEW* I'd be stuck making hats, blankets, and scarves for the rest of my life; I'd never make something as complicated as a sweater. This video convinced me I could do it, and I am 2/3 of the way through and I can't believe I'm making a sweater. THANK YOU!

@@AshleyLillisKnits I finished it (3 days) and I am actually so impressed. Thanks for being the person who convinced me I could do it! I definitely have balloon sleeves, because my needle was 24". I thought I kept my stitches tight, but apparently not! So I had to decrease at the cuff so it wouldn't look like bell sleeves. Haha! Oh well, balloon sleeves are a thing. I'll use a smaller needle next time. THANK YOU!

I am so glad that I found this video of yours. First, I would like to thank you for taking the time to teach/show us in detail how to create this beautiful pattern of yours. I really appreciate it. I have been wanting to knit a cardigan and I have not been able to find someone who was willing to spend the time to teach us (especially those who are beginners). By watching this video and looking at the pattern, I feel a little confident that I, too, can do this. I'm going to buy my materials tomorrow and start this project. So... thank you... thank you... thank you... This is exactly the type of tutorial I have been searching for. And I just subscribed to your Channel.

Wow, what an effort to record all of the work. Thanks a lot for doing so because for me knitting is intimidating as I learnt crochet first and everything looks easy for me even with doing sweater once you understand how to learn patterns but with knitting to imagine how to divide the work and those details of putting live stiches on scrap yarn cast one more stiches so wanted someone to show the whole process. I actually came to your channel maybe 2 years back trying on and off with knitting but I feel now more confident as I finally got it and build that hand muscle memory finally but ouf knitting is more complex than crocheting but also has its own beauty. I will update the comment after doing my first sweater I feel I can do it now.

Hi there! So nice you want to knit this for your daughter. You can always measure around her neck where the sweater would lay and figure out how many stitches you need with your gauge to hit that length. Hello 👋🏻 You say after 8 increase rows you have 9sts each side/22sts/34sts back. Then after 11 increase you have 12sts each side/22/40. Is that an error as the shoulder count doesn’t increase….there is 22 after 8^ & still 22 after 11^ Could you please tell me the number I should have after 11 increases please as I’m knitting it the same as you. I suffer with dyscalculia so I have trouble with counting and added up, (it’s the opposite to dyslexia but it’s number’s instead of words) So I just follow you all the way! Thanks 😊

Yes! The overall concept works for thinner yarn and smaller needles but you might want to adjust the number of cast on stitches and continue the raglan shaping longer until you get to the desired width. If you don’t adjust the number of cast on stitches, the cardigan will just be smaller around the neck!

I love this pattern but how do I increase for a larger size like 2xl

You can keep increasing until the back reaches whatever width you’d like. You just need to account for the additional width for the underarm cast on stitches as those will add additional width to the circumference of the sweater.

Can buttons be put on this cardigan? If so can you guide me the best way to do it? Thanks 😊 🧶
