I wish you explained how many stitches should be on each needle at this point . I love the pattern but find it very hard to read . I m a new knitter (3 years ) and like every step explained , step by step is way easier . Thanks for the tutorial though

Are you decreasing at the beginning and end of the heel on the same row before you knit a complete round of just plain knit stitches all the way back around and then start your decreases again? Also why is it necessary to alternate your decreases with s1k1,psso verses k2t ? Could you just do k2t on both sides of the heel or s1k1,psso on both sides of the heel ? I’m just confused about the video when I only saw you decrease at the beginning of the heel and not at the end of the heel to on the same row. Wouldn’t that make the heel shorter (lopsided) on one side ? Please let me know . Sorry this is new for me , I’m just trying to understand better.

I am not sure if I understand your question? But you decrease on both sides of the heel during the same round and then you knit one round of knit stitches. You can choose any other decrease, in the instructions they use two different decreases since one of them is a right leaning decrease and the other is left leaning. That way your decreases will point in the same direction, which looks a bit nicer.

Just wondering - when you knit the heel flap on your adult sock pattern, there were 2 knit stitches to begin every row for a garter "bump" - then you picked up a stitch in the bump - will this technique work here? Or does the sock size not allow this technique ?

In theory you can use it for all sizes. But here the length of the flap is measured in cm, not in rows. So it might be that the amount of bumps is not equal to the amount of stitches that you need to pick up. If the flap is measured in rows, you get one bump every two rows. But you can knit twice as many rows as the amount of stitches you need to pick up and see if you roughly get the right length for the flap.

Okay I just watched again. I followed very closely and it seems you are calling needle number 1 a different needle than the original starting point of the sock? Did I miss something?

Hiya Haalu, I don't quite understand alternating rounds? Does this mean I don't do any decreasing every round? Sorry I'm still getting my head round to understanding knitting jargon! Thanks :)

Hi Karen! Yes, exactly! You will only decrease in every other round :)

Oh dear! I decreased all the rounds until I ended up with 44 stitches which looks right (for 12-18 mths)

Oh :D Well since they are so small maybe they will still fit comfortable. If not thankfully starting over after the heel won't take too much time with baby socks :D

Hi Haalu, What time in the video do you place a marker? I'm not sure where on the heel to place it. Thank you for the video, it's a great tutorial!
@haalu

The marker should be placed before you knit the decreases, so at around 3:10 in den second video of the series. :)

Hi Haalu, First of all it's a great video:), but I still have one question because I'm an absolute beginner :D. The pattern should be formed by 3 rounds as I saw that you have decreased first in the end, second in the beginning and after that you have knit a free round, is this correct?Thank you!:)

Hey! Thanks :) After you have picked up the new stitches, you will knit one round of decreasing. In this round you will decrease at the end of the first needle and also at the beginning of the fourth needle. After that you will knit one round where you don't decrease. Those are the two rounds that you will then repeat until you are back down to 40 or 44 stitches. Does this help?

It is usually right underneath the video, above the comments. If you are watching on your phone, there is an arrow next to the video title.

Hi Brigitte! No problem, what size are you knitting? If you take a look at the instructions (here: www.garnstudio.com/pattern.php?id=3899&cid=17) at the top of the page you can look up the foot length for different shoe sizes and then later on in the instructions right before the toes it states how many cm remain to finished measurements. The difference of those two numbers should be the length of your foot without the toes. Does this help?

the smallest size thanks

Ok, so for newborns the toes will be about 3cm long, so your foot without toes should be 7 cm long.

Tried to knit this blooming sock for three times and then I gave up. The explanation is not that good, sorry. Something is missing or you assume that beginners can follow you. A thumb down from me.

Sorry this didn't work out for you. I always link the written instructions in the info box, because I see the videos as additional material to the patterns. Some things are easier to follow in written form, especially to follow the amount of rounds, stitches etc.

@@haalu Hello haalu! :) Out of your kind reply and consideration, I have removed my previous negative rating and gave you a thumb up. I have appreciated that you took the time to read my post. I was frustrated and please, I beg you to accept my most heartfelt apologies. I am not a rude person but this project really had tried my patience. Noto now but perhaps in the future I give it another shot. Wish you a good evening and thanks for your gentle reply. :)
