What do you do if the top of the compression socks are too tight and leaves an indention in my! legs. I hate to cut a slit in them, but I don't know what else to do at this point

I just got some. They do make my leg slightly colder, but no pain or making my foot fall asleep. The tightest place is right at the highest spot on my thighs, about level with my groin. I admit right there it feels a bit tighter than I'd want. It's also where I have the most soft fat. Got them for my vericose veins.

Yeah. My leg muscles would start hurting after work where I can barely driving home. I would take Tylenol to suppress the pain. One night I made my compression sleeve too tight and the Tylenol wasn’t reaching my leg. After I remove the sleeve, the meds helped.

I dont feel any of the above. In fact they're very comfortable. But when i use them to run, my calves become fatigued after about 5 min. I have the CEP compression socks which are designed for both running and recovery...maybe i should size up but then i worry that it wont give me the benefits of the compression with a bigger size

I had a previous Pulmanary embolism. I have type 2 diabetes. My calves are big and my feet and small. When I tried wearing compression socks in the past while traveling, my feet got really cold. Can I wear the socks that just cover your calves and wear regular ankle socks or is that defeating the purpose?

I became inactive do to needing hip surgery, it led to edema in my lower right leg. I started sleeping in my computer chair, then I developed leg ulcers and blisters. I started seeing wound care specialists, but they keep putting me in pain, by scrapping sores and using bleach type wraps without pain killers, I was also using Santyl on the one bigger sore, i stopped seeing them. I was in the hospital twice with cellulitis, once with border line sepsis. They got rid of the infection. For about two weeks I started cleaning my leg every two days, still applying Santyl to the one sore, with a dressing, then putting vaseline and a 2% Mupirocin all over the leg, then tightly wrapping to the knee with gauze, then wrapping on top of that with a heavy duty ace bandage, and the result is most all the blisters dried up and are flaking off, the big sore is starting to heal, and is half the size, and I got a lot of the swelling down and most of the water out, and far less pain. What do you think?

@@thesunnyedge Thank you! I did a better job on my leg than the wound care doctors. It continues to improve with just the one sore left . I must get rid of it, because they won't do hip surgery until it's gone.

I have lymphedema in both legs and have been to PT and she measured for compression socks after 3 weeks of constant wrapping to get swelling down.. My problem is that they are knee highs and very tight just below my knee.. I have fat knees. I have to put cotton batting around my leg just below the knee and then try and put the compression sock over that to help, well sometimes it helps and sometimes not..

I have large calves. I followed your super advice on sizing and I now have socks which fit well and comfortable on my calves , but I don’t really feel any real squeeze at my ankle ( it’s more like normal socks)…… I’m going to give them a go but would welcome your thoughts on whether are they still ok .

I've been measured twice by two different places and I'm right in the middle of two sizes - medium and large. I've tried both and I still don't know which one to choose. The mediums tend to bunch up a little in back of the knees, so I need to pull them up again in the back, then I use that "It Stays" glue to hold them in place. (I wear 20-30 thigh highs). Of course, the large fees looser, but I'm concerned they are too loose. How do you know if they are too loose? Someone told me that I should be able to grab the material on my lower leg and pull it away from my skin. With these, I can. Not so with the mediums. Have you ever heard that? I actually wearing these in the summer. They are so hot and miserable, but I don't have a choice. Thanks for the video!!

@jcepri I have a similar problem, in between sizes. I am going to order JOBST socks, they have videos where they explanation very detailed how to measure and what to do when you are in between sizes. They also have socks with 4 measurement points chart, not just ankle and calf like most of the socks.

I am new to compression socks and struggling to find a good fit. I have two pairs already and they both feel very uncomfortable on the lower ankle, where the feet bend. It feels like they push too much there, especially when I sit. Does it mean that I need a bigger size? (would appreciate any advice)
@thesunnyedge

Hmm it may just take some getting used to. Compression socks are quite snug around the foot and ankle…definitely not what a regular sock feels like. As long as it’s not causing pain or numbness, I would give these some time and see if you adjust to the new feel. If they still bother you after a few weeks, you may want to try another brand. Hope this helps!

Thank you for your video. *Question * if your legs red at the top does that mean they are too tight ?
@thesunnyedge
Жыл бұрын
I also experience that redness you mention when I take off my compression socks. It is up to your comfort level. If the socks feel good, do not cause any pain, and the redness gradually goes away after removing the socks then they are most likely fine to continue wearing, but if they are causing discomfort or pain, I would find another pair that are not so tight at the top. I find every brand fits a little differently. Hope this helps!

what about when you wear them for long hours your legs are swollen and its harder to get them out ...and they leave indented marks ??? is that a sign that they are too tight...??? I thought a compression socks is supposed to not make the legs swell...

Compression socks can cause indentations after wearing them long hours but the skin should gradually return to baseline after they are removed.

Ankle highs can be useful for those prone to foot swelling or even just tired/achy feet. For swollen/achy ankles/calves a knee high sock would probably provide more comfort.

Hello both! Janet’s BFF thank you for your kindness and support so much. Kim Schultz thank you for your comment. I have always been a bit of a “hand talker” and it’s probably not something I can do much about at this stage in my life. I am by no means an on camera professional, just a nurse practitioner wanting to help others through my meager videos. Thankfully, the hand motion does not seem to bother too many other viewers or I wouldn’t have a channel! 😅 Just the same, I appreciate you both watching! 🙏🏻

You will have some indentation in the skin after removing compression socks just from the natural tightness of the sock. Compression socks should always feel comfortable and not cause any numbness, tingling or pain.

Mines are always bunched up in the space between the ankle and the tibia, at the very front. I don’t think that its because they don’t fit me (they feel very comfortable after they are on) but mostly because I have horrible carpal tunnel and pulling compression socks up kills my hands. I don’t have the strength require to pull them up and so I always have to stop.
@thesunnyedge

Awh that sounds like it would be difficult with the carpel tunnel. 😕 I give you credit for continuing to use compression socks despite this hurdle. 💕
