I found this really interesting, and took some points actively trying not to be offended as a woman, just to try and connect what the male perspective is like. I will say some of what you guys said was a tad offensive, but most of it was an interesting insight. I think more conversations like this need to happen between men, and between men AND women together in a conversation and/or debate. The relationships between men and women need to be fixed, there’s a big gap that needs to be bridged - men need women and women need men, it’s as simple as that. We all need each other.

The way you’ve both spoken about these subjects throughout the podcast have made me really proud to take the next step and go through the therapy necessary to process these experiences and I’m writing form to ask for the relevant help as we speak. Oh man, you are carrying guilt and shame that was never meant for you. I'm going to say something you'd never expect to hear from a woman. Yes, you need to share these feelings but I don't recommend you sharing them with a female. It's kind of okay like here in a comments section because it's not as interpersonal as in real life. You were manipulated by a woman. So you will have built in defenses and programmed automatic responses to women. Nothing wrong about that. As a matter of fact that's perfectly normal. What you need are videos like this and other men who have experienced what you have. You can absorb information about narcissistic manipulation, gaslighting and just plain cruelty only if you can relax and let down your walls. I think that would be next to impossible with a female right now. And for a very good reason. Peace bro. First learn what happened to you then you can take back your sovereignty and release that shame because it is not yours to carry. That was the only way it worked for me and kind of everyone who has been entangled by a toxic narcissist that I've met. Male or female, a narcissist is a parasite that lures you in with love bombing then proceeds to feed off of you.

@@demi8890 I did not assume that the comment implied that they are not human and should be treated like a rabid animal. The contradictions in Narcissism that I have observed is that they, on the one hand have this grandiosity and desire for control and on the other hand, really need the admiration and esteem from the outside world, to up hold their ego ideal. The narcissist I know, shapeshifted himself to everyone he met, in order to illicit the admiration.. the personality is fragmented. I have heard much disagreement in whether therapy and help actually works. Their defensive structure is impenetrable. I have much empathy for their emptiness. They usually end up , old ,alone and broken, as the gap widens between their fantasy world and their reality. Maybe one day, we can find a way to help.

I dated a narcissist a few years ago for only a few weeks and I got out quickly… I’m now in a really healthy relationship (several years together without so much as a bad argument); she is still single and just posting fake lifestyle stuff online. Early warning signs for me were - 1. She made me feel like I was worthless and insane/unreasonable 2. She re-framed everything I said (however innocent or neutral) to an interpretation that I was somehow a psycho or a narcissist myself (she was obviously projecting herself onto me). 3. She was constantly emphasising how I was obsessed with her because she is so beautiful , but never complimented me on anything 4. She had an absent father (seems to have left her at a very early age- this was not her fault obviously) 5. She inappropriately turned nearly every one of our conversations (about anything at all) in dirty sex talk. 6. She was absolutely uninterested in how anyone else felt, but obsessed over her own feelings and how other ppl (particularly me) made her feel. GET OUT EARLY before they exhaust you

Holy freeeaking moly. This conversation was ahhhmazinggg. I listened off & on throughout my day. Great food for deeper thought. I loved every bit of it. The part about Daddy issues. Wow. Mind blown. I have had Daddy issues & I do have an inner child that does come to the surface. She used to cause A LOT of issues in my life... because I was unconcious to her even being within me. I hadn't thought about her until I had hit rock bottom & recognized that my childhood really fucking hurt me. Now my inner child is reassured that she's loved & protected & that this adult human that shares space with her is running the show. My Daddy issues do not come to the bedroom. I'm sure they have at some point in the past... but definitely not anymore. It's such a bummer there are so many hurt people dating around & hurting people. I feel the best gift someone can give themselves is TIME on their own SINGLE, at least until they've reached a point of feeling really fucking good on their own & they have some clarity around the last relationship. I've been reminded a lot, that actively loving myself requires dedication, compassion, grace, playfulness, & getting back up when I fall into the shadow. Being in a relationship requires the same. I recognize that at this point in my life I do not have capacity to give to another or even to really receive. I have inner work to do. After watching Richard for a while, I started worrying I was narcissistic. I'm not. I do have narcissistic tendencies depending on many factors. Grateful to hear it is absolutely necessary to have narcissistic traits to survive in this World. I'm grateful for this interview because it brings my awareness to so much. Hearing important aspects of life (Men & Women) discussed by 2 Men from their individual perspectives is wonderful. I really enjoyed this. Thank you. 👍💙✌️

I am so SICK of the narrative that people from Liverpool are thugs or thieves here .. yes they exist. But they exist EVERYWHERE. Perpetuating a narrative that isn't true, means we are open to (at best) the 'scouse jokes' or at worse out and out verbal abuse, all simply for being from Liverpool and in my case, having a Scouse accent I have experienced some awful responses from people in other cities. Have to disagree that narcissistic women will use words with a tone making them different from narcissistic men. They will call the police with false accusations of rape, abuse, plant drugs in the man's car, etc. They will resort to throwing items, they will hit/punch/slap, circle the table as he sits there, and if it gets bad enough, they will use a knife. And they will stalk the man afterwards when he leaves. Make it impossible for him to access their kids. They will try to turn everyone against him and get him fired. Grannon's etiologic picture for narcissism, whilst correct, is incomplete. There need not be chronic, acute nor complex childhood trauma to develop the preconditions for unhealthy narcissism. Bummer that the perception of women is that we don’t also want/ appreciate and require a sexual connection. Soicety has told you that we want to cuddle and pillow talk but sex is a release of energy for us too. We want emotional closeness but that comes in sexual connection, especially after a fight is reparative. I am a 42 year old woman that has had men punish me by with holding sex because they were too emotional, their egos were hurt or they simply could not see that an argument is just a conversation didn’t end in an agreement. It maybe that the men I have dated are older than you two but after about 48, men can not perform as well if they are upset. Enjoy your hay day. It is time for me to date younger men it seems.

I know Richard hates comments: It has been an eye-opening conversation, as a woman. Key. Ture Thanks.

Love you guys! Maybe only date women who had a good, kind father. I had that, and so appreciate men. Some women are brutal. Run!❤

I've watched this twice in one day, nothing like a proper watch to get to know how to avoid narcissists like the plague.

Great work True Geordie ! I’ve been following and listening to Richard for years. Good choice in guest ! I can’t think of anyone that knows as much as Richard Grannon about these topics.

I know I can only talk for myself but intelligence and a decent personality has always trumped looks for me. And honestly I think most grown up women are the same. And they don’t need men to be rich just willing to better themselves (team work makes the dream work). But not too ambitious…. There’s more to life than money.

I dont buy it that people who give advice are shitshow or that it makes their advice not proper. Ofc if you fight with your demons its hard, doesnt mean the advice isnt correct.

I’m realizing my ex did have that daddy complex with me. She was like a hurricane, but it was my fault for keeping her around out of guilt. Great podcast

The conversation is so very interesting, I was relaxing, listening, but the sudden use of 'p*ssy' and 'little b*tch' really broke the intelligent debate vibe, for me. Reminded me that language reveals our deep contempt for the female and I have work to do to remove ancient triggers, as it still hits me like a punch to the guts. Feels like a betrayal. Humans are so weird to hate where they come from and what is desired by many. I wish language would evolve better, quicker!

People saying it’s ironic, theres a difference between having narcissistic tendencies and behaviours and being a clinically diagnosed narcissistic, itll be a hard job to find someone who acts completely without narcissism, if thats what you need to watch a podcast about it
