Kudos for taking the time with this.....be careful to not assume the viewers knowledge when talking about this stuff. It can very quickly turn into you displaying your knowledge, as opposed to teaching the viewer a technique. That can happen VERY easily, and without you knowing it, because there's no one there to tell you to slow it down, or that the camera isn't picking up a something important that relates to what you're doing.

You can also setup a trammel ( trommel maybe? Idk I have never seen it spelled) and use the router. That is how I built curved moldings in 2d flat arches. 3d arches are much more difficult. 3d would be the bottom side of your arch above where you walk through the door or gate.

Great video. I wonder if u could do a video on a segmented arch. I don’t think it’s the same as an elliptical arch. It’s the kind u see on a segmented radius barn doors or carriage house double doors. The kind with eye brow windows. Anyway. Would love to see that one I want to build some barn doors in the future with that architectural element. Thanks. Steve S

They are just semi circles though aren't they? ( I don't mean this in an offensive way) here in England we have to build Arch formers for the bricklayers to lay their bricks on so that they can remove the former when the cement had cured and then becomes self supporting. It gets trickier when the at arch is not half of a circle but more elliptical or oval shaped so for example 100 inches wide but only 25 inches high. It's not that difficult to calculate once you know how(which I would imagine that you do). It involved finding the centre of the circle and working from that, I remember being taught it in carpentry college I just couldn't get my head around it at the time. Perhaps do a video forming one like this at I'm sure people would find it interesting and very helpful. Thanks for the video Matt. 👍😃
