Lower the deck until it is touching the ground or a wood block on the front side before adjusting that front nut to take pressure off. It is also a good idea to keep the threaded rod lightly greased to prevent rust so it doesn't swell and prevent adjustment.

Thanks you for your succinct instructions. No superfluous drivel here. Though you should mention at what deck level this is accomplished. Clearly this was accomplished at full raised position.

That front lock nut wiggled off on my 52” and I can’t get the bolt back through the round pivot piece and out far enough to get the new nut on!! Any suggestions?

Remove the pin from the deck then push the Deck Pivot through the front far enough to put the nylon lock nut on. Push it back and install the pin before adjusting the nut to level the front of the deck.

The bolt will wallow out the rear mounting hole of the Deck Link. Replace the Deck Link (part number 116155) and get the Deck Leveling Nut (part number 605016) for the inside of the deck mounting bracket. it has a raised surface that fits like a spacer into the hole of the Deck Link and has two flat edges that fit into the slot of the deck mounting bracket like a Carriage Bolt so that it doesn't turn when the mounting bolt is loosened or tightened. The Deck Leveling Nut secures the Deck Link to the inside of the deck mounting bracket and the Deck Leveler Cam to the outside of the deck mounting bracket without locking up the Deck Link. A Flat Washer between the Jam Nut and the Deck Leveler Cam protects it from wear. The Deck Leveling Nut allows the Deck Link to rotate as the deck mounting bracket slides up and down with the terrain. As a side note the right side Deck Link has a spacer that allows the Deck Link to rotate after the mounting bolt is tightened. The front holes of both Deck Links also have these spacers as seen in your parts manual. Assemble in the following order: 3/8"- 16 X 2" Bolt Deck Lift Link bottom hole because the top slot is mounted to the Deck Lift Arm 3/8"- 16 Jam Nut (a jam nut is 1/2 the thickness of a standard nut and is not a lock nut) 3/8" Flat Washer Deck Leveler Cam (116911) Adjust the jam nut about half way between the Deck Lift Link bottom hole and the Deck Lever Cam Flat Washer. Slide the bolt into the deck mounting bracket slot. Insert the Deck Leveling Nut into the hole of The Deck Link then against the inside of the deck mounting bracket. Rotate it so the flats fit into the slot in the deck mounting bracket from the inside. Thread the bolt into the Deck Leveling Nut until the bolt threads are flush or protrude a little beyond the Deck Leveling Nut. Tighten the Jam Nut against the Deck Leveler Cam's Flat Washer. Now the Lift Link is secured to the inside of the deck mounting bracket and the rest of the assembly to the outside of it. See your Parts Manual for an illustration of the proper assembly.
