The past is what it is. I've made the mistake of leaving big burn piles in the past thinking they needed to dry out to burn. That's not entirely true. Especially with pine, you just have to get it HOT, and get the air to it, and it will go! One other trick is to make sure it's tucked up tight to concentrate that heat and fuel, and the best way to do that is to have an excavator there to feed and tend it.
I'm thrilled to have gotten this one to burn so quick and easily. We tried a few times at first with no luck, but we didn't really give it our full attention. But to have it all cleared and burned right away, helps tremendously on this job to not have it in the way, and not have to worry about dealing with it later.
