You need greaseproof paper and your loose bottom cake tin.
For the Christmas cake you will also need brown packing paper.
Remove the loose base from your cake tin. Place on your roll of greaseproof paper and draw around it with a pencil. Then cut it out with kitchen scissors.
Do this again so you have 2 greaseproof paper circles. Then repeat and cut 2 more circles of brown packing paper.
Roughly cut a couple of strips of greaseproof the same height of your tin or a bit taller, to line the sides of the tin.
Rub butter or spread all over the inside of the tin. Then place one of the circles of greaseproof paper on the base. The butter will help it stick in place.
Then push the strips of greaseproof paper onto the sides of the tin, so it is all covered.
Now fold the second greaseproof paper circle in half and then in quarters.
Snip a hole out of the middle. And do the same with the two brown packing paper circles.
Roughly cut a long strip of brown packing paper to wrap around the cake tin at the end. This should be a double layer.
Put to one side.
