Mate your absolutely right about education on fire starting, when I went to a semi wild campsite in April, I actually had to start the camp fires for the youngsters on the neighboring pitch... They were trying to a light a log with matches... I gave them a quick talk on firefighting for dummies, but basically mankind has regressed to the point where he has no mastery of fire.

ANOTHER FINE VIDEO! I admire your chance to live long-term in a friendly forest. I also have been admiring your setup as your adventures have unfolded. This video is chock-a-block with REAL information. My experience with the Kelly Kettle system was mixed: I read the instructions and then left the cork IN during my first boil-up. I was not seriously burned. I certainly agree with your idea of a mix of quality and sensible thrift in putting an entire kit together. Older cast iron RULES! I note that YOUR fry pan has a longer handle than we typically can purchase in the USA. The extra leverage of the longer handle offsets the extra weight of the pan. I, too, use a mix of old and new and of heavy and lightweight items in my outdoor adventures.

Great video. I'm glad you pointed out the importance of permission from the land owner. As a woodland owner, it's heartbreaking when we turn up and find we've had uninvited visitors. Firepits dug indiscriminately, wood dragged from where its been neatly and safety stacked. Our simple little log seating area turned upside down. Chopped, firewood and half burnt wood left laying about. Sorry to hijack a lovely video but anyone reading this, please respect private woodland... leave no trace! What we don't see and have to clean up, we aren't going to be too upset about.

We have 35 acres of land to use for camping out on and I use it sometimes for that, but mainly let it grow back up since we sold the timber on the land. 13:33 - Not sure if you are going to read this, but I have a question about arctic tent... how do you keep it from moulding as its it raining in the UK quite often, does the heat inside helps to dry the tent thus preventing mould or does the material itself is resistant to water, preventing leaks and absorb water... I am just wonder as in the near future I would like to purchase such tent, but if I will pay £500-600 for the tent just to find out it will start getting mould after a year, that would be quite expensive temporary shelter... How long have you got that tent and did you notice any patches of mould?

As soon as my house sale closes my son and I are going to move to a camp we're building on a friend's property. We'll be raising our chickens and turkeys and getting some rabbits and a few goats. We'll do some gardening too. We plan to cut and mill some trees to make some simple cabins while living in tents. I hate to leave it when we get done working on it for the day, but we have 6 dogs and we're not quite set up to take them all for an over-nighter yet. Can't wait to get out there for good. My dream is to bikepack around the US. Stealth camping will be a must, but there is so much land here. I bet it will be no problem finding secluded areas that are not traveled.. I need to prepare as time goes on. Maybe I find an area that I want to live where no one is at all. My food would ideally be fish and a garden plus whatever wild food I can find. I don't want to kill, but I will kill a fish if I need food. I'd eat a snake too just because I don't like them. 😆 But for winter, maybe I need to learn how to preserve meat and hunt a deer for the season. Lots of jerky, perhaps. Maybe birds would also be a good idea.

My main problem has always been, how do i find some woodlands to live in that i don't own ?.. until i can save enough money to buy some land, how would i start off ? So really happy to find channel's like this one, to help me understand everything involved with going off grid and living a real life for once... only difference would be, i wouldn't be hunting those beautiful animals, i'de be painting them :)

Artic tent, 4 seasons sleeping bag, floor mat, axe, knife, saw, flint, air rifle, warm clothes, decent boots, stove, canteen, cast iron pan, plate, fork. Will be a challenge but I'm up for it. I refuse to work 50 plus hours a week just to scrape by my rent for flat and bills and be left with nothing else. Would rather live off grid and embrace the challenge. I'm 35, single, no kids. If I get moved on I will pack up and move to another remote area. If I have to do that every few weeks it's not the end of the world. I will have plenty of time on my hands to do so 👍🏻

Another great video mate. Got a question do you have any trouble with snakes in your camp? Here in Australia when i go camping mostly in the summer i get a lot of snakes come in to camp it docent bother me as much but when i have friends come we all have to keep tents zipped up at all times as most of if not all the snakes are deadly in Australia also another hazard is ticks and giant centipedes. Looking forward to more of your vids have a good mate.

Sounds rather nasty with the snakes, we have a few adders and grass snakes but they are not a problem, Ticks can be a problem, I have had a few on my legs. I bet you check your shoes in the morning 👍👍

Even with permission from the landowners, if the council clock on they will move to enforce removal. Does that worry you?

@@incorectulpoliticWe have foxes but they just run away when they see humans. Most dangerous animal we have in the UK I'd say is wild boar but they are in the Highlands of Scotland.
