There are 2 ways to load your shoulders, one is for the "Power Transfer Element" from the body to the arms, hands and club, and the other is the "Shot Intention" e.g Fade, Draw, Straight...Here is some rare footage @TravisFultonGolf interview with Pete Cowen, Travis asks Pete the question "How do you load your shoulders Pete" [4.01s]

We have all seen and tried the drill with the towel tucked under the armpits which is great for control and especially practicing short game, but the problem is when you try the same drill for long shots as Pete mentions there is great control, but no power..? Why?
Because you need to load the shoulders, very much like a boxer would to deliver a knock out blow, it's all to do with the shoulder movement, rotator cuff, lats and triceps. You also need to load the shoulders on the correct plane depending on what shape of shot you want to hit e.g Fade, Draw, Straight etc...
