bit sparse on actual info, ie how and when to trim down. How long do they live, how to divide etc. What there was was very nice though.

At 0:42, there is a peach colored Heuchera (very forefront is a purple and then the next one back) - can you tell me the name of that variant, please? It looks exactly like what I have been looking for!! My fingers are crossed you see this and reply back. Thank you!

I find it odd that the plant is pronunced "Hook-ker-ruh" in English, when a Swede (Carl von Linné) named it after the German botanist Johann Heinrich von Heucher, whos name is pronunced "Hoy-share".

Henning Bartels I agree, funny pronunciation. It is "hoy-hare"

Like with many cultures the English look at foreign word & pronounce it through “English”eyes, take the word “beauty” from the French “beauté”, another good example is the dahlia named after the Swedish botanist Dahl, but most Brits don’t pronounce it Dah-lia.

Ohhh then I've been pronouncing it correctly all along!! I also think the hard K sound is too rough for such a lovely species

@@TheKisshu1997 yes, it is a gentle plant, indeed ... and the name was not intended to remind of a prostitute.

I live in a zone 8 or so, panhandle of florida. I have tried these guys in the shade and every stinkin time that summer starts they just die, even though they are thick and lush and fabulous in the springtime. Can they handle deep shade usually or do they need some sun, even when the heat and humidity both get into the 90s or even 100? I really want these awesome plants to thrive in my yard

Maybe your ground is waterlogged. Florida is mostly swampy. Huchera should do just fine in the shade because theyre woodland plants but intense heat is not desirable for thriving (but you said yours die, which they shouldnt do even in hot climates). Maybe bring a sample of your soil to a garden center and ask an expert for plants they recommend. Or take a pic of where you want to plant and again ask for help from a local expert.

You have to try the Villosa variety. Those are for humid areas. Try them. I promise they will thrive.

Just a thought, we had a very hot summer here in Essex/UK, they didn't die but didn't seem to do well, I think they dislike our tap water as it's hard. Some in pots just had no roots, and vine evil loves their roots and hatch at end of summer. Before they die take little buds of them and stick them in fresh compost in little pots in the shade, by Autumn, you can plant these out when the cool comes and you don't have to go and buy them again.

I have been struggling with my Heuchera Wild rose I planted between hostas in the front flower bed of my house.. their leaves keep burning. Hostas are fine. Sunlight time may be longer: 6-7hours. Soil has lots of clay. I did my best to loose it up for all the plants I planted (I'm new to gardening). I don't know what I did wrong to Heuchera.. Any advice would be appreciated!!

Plant with some top soil next time or compost. Mix it in the clay soil. If that doesn't work it's to sunny. Make sure you water.

That's too much sun for a heuchera plant. They only want a couple of hours direct sunlight so they do best in a shady area. If you have them in a very sunny area they can survive but the plant will make sacrifices such as the leaves will be ugly and burnt, it will not grow as tall as it should, and it may not even flower.
