Great tutorial. Glad you shared this information. I also loved the kitties!

i get it. what you would do is cut out the stabilizer inside the tape rectangle before you stitch. put a floater piece of stabilizer behind the hooped stabilizer. stick the ribbon to the tape. that way when you remove the ribbon, the same hooped stabilizer remains for the next piece. the floater works beneath the ribbon. use another floater for the next segment. this way you can do it continuously.

Excellent tutorial. But I have to admit it's a very expensive way to get a elatively short length of embroidered ribbon. I think that unles it were something very specific I wanted to personalize, I would probably just buy the embroidered piece from a home dec store. Good tip about the grosgrain and satin ribbons. I wouldn't have thought of that. Thanks for posting. You did a great job. Kay

Yes, you would have to repeat the process as you move along the ribbon. As for the comment on grosgrain ribbon, the process is exactly the same. I chose this ribbon because it had trellis pattern to it. Gros grain is even more tightly woven and tends to pucker easily with normal density designs.

Also, putting the spool on the floor and allowing the metallic thread to unkink itself along a ling path to the machine also helps.

A higher hoop is better for holding fabrics and machines that have them provide a higher foot lift for hoop clearance. I hope that answers your question.

Very interesting, and great for personalized gifting! Tell me; I have a large commercial 15 needle Tajima...can I use the metallic adapter? I am so tired of the twisting of metallic thread and standing there holding it to keep it straight...not long...just annoying.

Basic question. Which side of the stabilizer is up???textured or smooth? Thanks...
@LindeeGVideos
7 жыл бұрын
Depends on the stabilizer. Stabilizers with heat fusible adhesives are generally textured on the fusible side. Non fusible/non sticky usually feel the same on both sides.

I cannot find the rectangular basting stitch you said was available. Only see the circular ones on your website.......
@sueatkins3388

It's a preliminary basting stitch which you press the icon on your machine. When pressed, it stitches a long basting stitch around the area needed for the design you plan to stitch out.

when I try to use metallic, the bobbin thread comes up on top, any thing I can try? I have a vertical tread holder for it.
@LindeeGVideos

cutflower, if the bobbin thread is coming to the top, it means the top tension is winning the tug of war and is too tight. Make sure the thread is feeding smoothly and off the end of the spool with no extra tension.

She said satin and grosgrain are difficult to machine embroider on because they are so tightly woven. I need to embroider names on satin ribbon to hang off the altar for All Saints Day. I plan to use a very skinny needle and thread that looks metallic gold for this one. Families will be able to use it as a book mark in the family Bible after the candle/bell ceremony that day. This was very helpful to know how to place the ribbon and keep it in place so the names are placed properly. Thanks!

I keep coming back to KZitem, hoping I can find a solution lol. I have software and can design things in Photoshop, but the letters never come out very well (even with telling the software to only make one pass). I'm using satin ribbon so maybe I will try grosgrain. the only time something came out beautifully was a preprogrammed design on my machine in a sort of cross stitch. I would love to design and make my own labels for handmade gifts.
@LindeeGVideos

If you mean they are puckery, the likely cause is the ribbon is just too tightly woven to accept more thread. Cross stitch is more open/less dense and wouldn't be forcing as much thread into the ribbon.

wait a minute. wouldn't you have to redo this as you move along the ribbon? What about the stabilizer?
@sueatkins3388

Think about what you'd do to sew a border down the front edge of a floor length robe. You'd have to carefully mark the end on the first hooping and put the 2nd hooping in line with the first basting. So if you want a long repeated design, think of the stabilizer as the "robe." It needs to be as long as the length of ribbon you want embroidered. (or piece the stabilizer together so it IS long enough.) leave the whole length of stabilizer and ribbon and sew the first hooped design. Without wetting the stabilizer, reposition the hoop so that the next basting "box" lines up with the last one. and sew again.
