For baby water lilies (±1 month old, pinky-finger-high leaf), should the water just as high as the leaf or can I plant them inside 30cm height pond?

Sounds like you are doing the right thing. Some tips, spray in the evening as sun and heat can degrade or weaken the treatment, I mix it up strong as the pond water will dilute the product. It takes about a week or so to see noticeable results.

I have some lilies that have jumped their pot and are growing into the rocks. I have another pond build in progress and would like to divide the lilies between the two ponds. I have a 45 ml EPDM liner. Is there any danger that the out-of-bounds lilies could pierce the liner? Same question (and future dividing plan) for a very large clump of yellow flag iris. Am I good to wait till next year when the second pond is done? Or should I divide now and throw out the extra? Thanks so much for all of your pond lessons!

Boat or Waders (we have even used dry suits)
@ThePondAdvisor

Depends on the depth, if it’s too deep to stand you will not find many waterlily’s that will do well in that depth. Boat for detail trimming if you want to care for them, large lakes or ponds, you don’t need to worry to much like a garden pond or a show garden, little yellowing of the leaves is natural
@CammyWINS

@@ThePondAdvisor we don’t know exact depth yet. It’s on the to find out list. Shouldn’t be too deep, we have catfish in it that shows up quite fast when food is being served.

Water lilies don’t remove that much nutrients for the water column, we’re algae is dependent on it. Use multi clear to help clear it, if you wish.

Hi Mark, is there a plant you can add to a pond that will oxygenate it, but sit at the bottom but not take over and need to be pulled out?
@ThePondAdvisor
2 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can add oxygenator to the base of your pond, some love the to grow and swamp others, the biggest problem you will have with the slower growing ones is they might not use up the nutrients and Mother Nature will grow algae instead. It’s not impossible but a fine balance

What would cause lily pads to look distorted and curled up at the edges? Is it a disease? I used Algaefix a few times this season. Could that be the cause?
@ThePondAdvisor
2 жыл бұрын
A few things, could be aquatic insects, they chew them mainly when the leaves are small coming up through the water. If they come up fine and then change, holes or parts of the leave made into sandwiches then it’s china mark moth larvae
@initiate22000

@@ThePondAdvisor I don't see any holes or insect damage. One of the leaves doesn't seem to be uncurling itself at all. Only one out of 3 plants is affected.
