Using ceramic "gourd" and kinda new to mate. Using around 30g of mate and it fills around 1/3 of gourd. Pretty impossible to make any mountain with that ammount but i'm fine with just pouring water into it as it is since it maintains taste for whole day anyways (and i do prefer to add 200ml+ in single serving to drink it).

I just prepared and drank my first cup of Yerba with instructions from a different video, and it did not have nearly as much info as yours does. I definitely messed up my mountain and didn't enjoy the subsequent pours as much as the first one. I am going to go make another cup using your instructions now. I may be awake for days (I also had morning coffee), but thats okay. I'm retired. 😂

Thanks for all the awesome videos! As a beginner they have been extremely helpful. I do have a question. How many times do you pass the gourd around until there is no more flavor? So, eventually the MoM goes away because as you drink, some of it falls down as you add more water, correct? Thank you once again...LOVE IT!

Still trying to understand what the benefits are of preparing Yerba the traditional way (besides being fun?) vs. preparing it in a French press. I just tried this for the first time, and I’d say it was kinda fun, but it tasted very similar to when I prepare it in French press. I used the same amount of Yerba and it provided the same volume of tea that I would get from my French press method, which does not lead to bitterness if I don’t oversteep it. Can you help explain if the traditional way is in some way superior? Thanks

Hey! Thanks for the informative video. Just one question though. In all the videos I have seen they recommend that once you stick the bombilla under the mountain of mate it is recommended that you do not touch it or move it. Can you explain what's the best technique as this is the first video I ever saw where you take out it bombilla multiple times to maintain the MoM.
@Circleofdrink
4 жыл бұрын
You, as the Server, may adjust the bombilla / bomba as much as you'd like. It's recommend that the guests, if any, shouldn't adjust the bombilla. That's the job of the server. I am constantly adjusting my bomba as I drink mates all day long.
@Danielle-nz9tn
Жыл бұрын
@@CircleofdrinkIt sounds like the role of the server is not only to prepare it but also to kinda monitor the flavor and track how many times the mountain has been moved around and thus how much more life is left in the mountain? I can imagine if more than one person was messing with the mountain, it would be chaos and the Yerba would be wasted.

i'm thinking your repeated words...those words that go round round and round while you work the Mate / the Mountain is made and will be fine.. :) South America is .. for those who study ancient cultures an agriculture.. to my believe.. in many aspects.. an old garden.. our ancestors faced more challenges we can come to comprehend.. they sculpted huge sand deposits in terrace style mountains.. they used stones to support the mountains , yet without the stones and the roots of trees terrace hills will last forever.. unworked hills will erode and are lost to the River.. its life that collects the sand from the wind and place sand between their roots outgroing .. without life/ plants we would be a planet of water and bedrock.. anyway..those words.. they embed the soul of the ancient mountainmakers i think :)

I just recently received the Campanha Cup Toro and I have a hard time turning this one over to shake. My hand isn't big enough... mate goes every where! I have been shaking it right side up instead, with my hand over it and just a tiny bit goes out as I shake... not as bad as when I turn it over. I don't think I'm getting the small particles on the top. I'll keep trying.
@Circleofdrink
8 жыл бұрын
+Beth Orsi You don't necessarily need to do the full shake. If you can tilt the gourd to get the yerba to one half of the gourd, then add the water in the waterhole, you can still build a perfect mom by allowing the water to be absorbed fully for a minute, then molding the mountain with a spoon bombilla.
@Circleofdrink
8 жыл бұрын
+Beth Orsi You can also use a saucer or piece of cardboard to replace your hand for gourds that have a very wide opening.
