I don't care if the tutorial is 2 minutes long or 4 hours long as long as I end up learning something good out of it. Never sacrifice the explanation parts in favour of length. I mean, maybe some people come to tutorials just to recreate an effect, but I personally want to learn how stuff actually works, and I'm not even new to 3d or Blender.

Within the group node "blur", you can select the factor input (Press N, click group, click factor) and set min to 0, max to .1, that way you get much better control with the sliders.

The length is irrelevant as long as I can learn something from it! Keep up the great work!

Excellent tutorial, not only useful but also succinct, plus somebody finally found a use for the White Noise node that usually just annoys people by appearing when we're trying to add the Noise Texture node!

You’d probably be surprised by how many different uses the white noise node has once you get serious about shading.

@@juliocargnin I don't doubt it, I'm still learning. I just know as soon as they introduced that White Noise node it'd turn up every time I searched for the Noise node and I'd add it by accident.

Why does this feel like rocket science. One would think a simple blur note would've been there from the get go.

The technique in MrSorbias “Generate Seamless patterns in Blender” video was quite interesting to use for UV distortion! Easily giving nice hybrids between blur and “censor-pixelation,” and I’m sure a host of other fun effects.

First time here. Pace and length are perfect. Screencast keys or keybind shortcut callouts from you are NEEDED. Great tip, and thanks. New Sub here on this day! I Look forward to a more adjusted to all skill levels format as I follow your lessons into the future.

I would also put in a map range node to limit 0-1 to .00-.01 to give a less variance in your slider.

Oh man, so glad you shared this. So many times I've wanted to blur a generated texture just a little, especially for normal maps, but couldn't find a way to do it. Never thought to blur something using the vector input. I'm used to blurs being further down the chain. Thank you so much!

Great tutorial, reminded me of something I wanted to ask, is there a chance you could make a tutorial for creating a 'painterly' effect, making the output render look more like a 2d painting ?

you're blurring the texture but what if just want to blue the whole object, as the rest of the background img or hdri might be a bit blurry and we want to match our objects to it

The problem here is that unfortunately you can't "grater than" or color ramp this thing. And for that reason trying to do Substunce Designer stile texturing pipline in shading fails. Oh well =(
