@@dirtywaterevents4528 sure will! You could even do this in the walls instead of the ceiling.

I think your video is going to help me mount my OHs above my kit but also some lights. If you've got any suggestions on how to frame it out after connecting to the beams in my studio, feel free! That's what I've been trying to figure out on this New Years day which is how I found your vid. Thanx Derek & here's a link to my studio tour earlier this year. kzitem.info/news/bejne/mZubtpiljJdqYIIsi=ROWguSOMZpL0mGNb&t=260 Oh, and I see your in Nashville, we're north of town between White House & Portland

Thanks for checking out the video and definitely keep in touch. Unfortunately, I left Nashville 6 months ago after being there 11 years and went to Iowa of all places. More on that to come!

@@TheDerekFrank well snap! Traffic is just a nightmare anymore, I avoid going there. If you've got any suggestions on mounting everything, that'd be great. What I'm thinking is having a few 2x4s (stained of course!) connecting all 3 beams which are also directly above my snare. From there I'm thinking two 4ft 2x4s coming down and an 8ft 2x4 that spans the kit which is what the OHs, GoPro & lighting could be attached to. But any suggestions are more than welcome!

@@JeffWald I really love the look of the meyal pipes being exposed and mounted right to the studs, but a frame that is stained would be pretty dope

@@TheDerekFrank I've been back & forth all day on which one! But your clamps really helped me come up with the framing idea since i've got such a sharp angle all the way up (starts about 8 ft and the peak is 15-16ft) and I really really don't want to mounting anything directly to that ceiling

@@JeffWald I dont blame you not wanting to mount directly to it. You dont happen to have a 3d printer do you?

@@TheDerekFrank what was the Hercules stand you used? I have measured all my mic stands and only one small one was 3/4". The rest are at least 7/8.

Home Depot has the word Home in it. 💛🧡💗 I can cut PVC with my beaver teeth (any saw) I have the mixed blessing of a steel roof - I bought big magnets for a stage boom mic stand ($21) and I can put it anywhere. You can also use an inexpensive cargo-bar as a vertical stand and mount a lot to it. Those cost $35 on the 'Zon and are built like a tank and have a course crank and fine thread adjust. If too short for your ceiling (they max 8'something) the bottom (female) pole is just galvanized fencing (cheap) so get what you need. (official photo pole stands are over $100.) Lots of ways to hang a boom arm from these and can't be knocked over, and have no legs to take up room (80% space reduction.) Mount against a wall, etc. Break down collapse and store like a tripod.

@@TheDerekFrank Oh thanks big YT brother - I am broadcasting as a business tool and I'm not quite there yet. I have a tendency to plan a lot though and have 'pre-operations templated' - which means tested and set aside for integration on-time. I try to contribute through posts as I am in the hood. ha.

How long would you consider making one of these with maybe a conduit pipe? I have to drop a mic from the ceiling of a gym for a choir but want to use the rode m5 not a typical cabled choir mic.

Too much schtick. Humor is ok, but stop cutting in movie bits. People arrive here after a search and want instruction and illustration, not an audition for the high school play.
