Excellent work young man :). I do need to make you aware that when you were explaining about the motor at 2.25 min. The gap at the back of the motor and those fan like wings you see inside and the air gap you are pointing at serve a purpose. They are all there to serve 1 purpose i.e. AIR VENTILATION TO COOL THE MOTOR !!!!!. The motor heats up very fast and needs external source of cool air to cool down the motor. Therefore you do need to drill some air holes besides the screws and in line with the air gaps at the bottom of your motor. JUST POINTING OUT . BUT that doesn't take away your BRILLIANT IDEA AND CREATIVITY.
@Moltike707

I agree those are fans to cools the motor, also I noticed you soldering up battery incorrectly and unsafe way. I'm not here to correct ya but just advice. also, the battery will have a short life. because of the way you soldered the battery up, I know it works, what u did was called loop flow circuit.

You do much with round pipe, I suggest making a "V" block or cradle from some scrap wood, it will make holding and drilling much easier. I also work a lot with plastic and must machine square and rectangular cutouts for switches and connectors, and although I have routers, and a milling machine I usually chain drill holes like you (it's faster for on-offs) but then follow up with a sharp woodworkers chisel to remove the slug, with practice you can get a hole that needs no filing or touch up as it is crisp and square. As a sub, I think you put up some of the best DIY's on the Tube, well done.

Nice project, but it doesn't even come close to the power that real commercial tools have. What I usually do is buy high quality old tools with worn out batteries and outfit them with an appropriate new Lithium RC battery. Works like a charm! EDIT: I've tried using old laptop batteries as well but the capacity of those cells is no longer their rated amount, if you're lucky they're still over half the original rated capacity.

As far as I know you can't solder onto a lithium ion battery the way you did and moreover you need proper BMS for over discharge and charging a 3S lipo. Good luck.

@MCsCreations
6 жыл бұрын
Awesome work, bro! But it's not safe to charge those batteries like that. You should use a BMS (what would be really difficult, because a BMS that can give enough amps that the motor draws would be really big) or a lipo kind of pack (with balanced leads). In that case it would need an embedded lipo alarm too (that would be powered when the angle is on)... Anyway, take a look in the "diy 100w LED flashlight" video from Well Done Tips. ;)
@BeachsideHank

Actually, there are workarounds for lipo battery charging schemes: kzitem.info/news/bejne/qYavy4V5pJV-iHo This guy has extensive experience in high power systems and decision- making of what components to use.
@MCsCreations

BeachsideHank Yeah, I know him! But, from what I know, he only works with new batteries, right? And he doesn't solder that way too, if I'm not mistaken. So... It's a little bit safer... But yet not much.
@BeachsideHank
6 жыл бұрын
MC's Creations Not trying to be argumentative with you, but some geographical realities of life have to be taken into account also. A person desperately wanting to construct such devices as shown in this video may be a poor factory worker in Karala India for example; a BMS- no matter how inexpensive it may be for you and me to acquire- may be a budget buster for him, but a 30 gauge or thinner copper wire strand as a cell jumper would provide at least Tesla- like protection against catastrophic discharge failure. Do note that many DIY tool videos make use of pre- owned batteries, almost all Li-ion, which has a much better safety record than LI-po. I don’t think the possibility of hazard should dissuade anyone from replicating such devices, just a few simple low to no cost safe practices should suffice.
@MCsCreations
6 жыл бұрын
BeachsideHank Of course, I agree with you. But knowledge is power and that's what I'm trying to add here. ;) About the safety... Remember about Samsung Note 7. KABOOM!
@BeachsideHank
6 жыл бұрын
MC's Creations For those unfamiliar with those episodes, here are Samsung's reports: In the case of the first battery, Samsung pointed to a design flaw in the upper right corner that, in some cases, caused the positive and negative tabs to break down, resulting in a short circuit. The second battery, which came from another manufacturer, was apparently faulty because of a welding defect that could cause the battery to catch fire, it said. Now followers of this thread can draw their own conclusions. Good exchange there MC's Creations, thanks for all your input. ☺

paint on PVC will not last...due to the surface tension of PVC. At least you need to pre-treat the PVC with acetone and sand the surface to facilitate the grip of the paint. As most of youtube diy ... they look smart the first day with no lasting perspective.
