I love these. While it’s redundant and useless for security overall, it’s the back to basics that inspires me. Living in a world where everything is so complicated, things like this remind us of how technology was. And for people to explore and put to test their own skills and theories for solving problems, gives us all more exposure to the algorithm in each of our respective brains. The more we absorb, the bigger the archive of knowledge we have to pull functional and usable techniques from simple things like this. Ignore the haters, appreciate the jokes and recognize that you just added more tool skills to your talent. No matter how small or outdated the project is, time is being well spent. I now have an even more simple explanation for how locks tend work, this would be great as a introduction to locking mechanisms in a late elementary school physics lesson that also introduces the world of metal working, welding, and engineering.

You don't even need to smash the whole thing off all you need to do is turn one a little bit and then just keep turning it while pushing and when it starts to move then one will go down then you keep just doing the next one until it's moved all the way down

I think you just have to keep some pressure while you spin the first nut until you feel the spot, and then continue through the others. But not everyone know that so it could help. Its still a great clip.

@SwapPart that would negate the point of ingenious fabrication with very few tools needed... make everyone think that the biggest and best tools are needed to make something perfectly, and you stifle creativity. This vid encourages creativity, without expensive tools. Your thought process stifles creativity by saying if the product isn't perfect, then it isn't worthy of being completed. Don't get in the way of another's inspiration to those less fortunate or less resources available than what you have. Perfect conditions are not needed to make awesome stuff.

This would have made for a pretty cool project if it had been done with a lathe and mill with high tolerances. The nuts and pins could have been 1 piece, milled out of some round stock. Then there's no weld mark to give away the combination. Also could mill in some false sets to make it more difficult.

@Nitro Engine Hoarder lol I did 6³ and got 216 but then stupidly changed it because you can count up to 666... but only if you have ten selections per row of course--what an idiot. Maybe if he made the pin grooves misaligned squares, it would be harder to exploit?

we all *think* we know the combination, but after the video was made, he put the whole assembly in a lathe. cut the nut off the end, took out all the tumblers, drilled out the pins, welded the holes shut, drilled new pin holes, welded new pins, ground the surfaces flat, re-stamped the numbers, re-stacked the tumblers into the slot, welded the assembly back to the base... and now no one will ever know the new combination! 🔒

On a conceptual level, this is garbage... You can lock picking this "lock" very easy... You can feel the pins when you rotate those screws, you can even see the pins if you place your eyes in the right position... 😂 This is a primitive mechamism. There is nothing fine and less perceived in that mechamism as it is in a modern lock...

UglyBurrito
25 күн бұрын
@capasau capasau qun burritu sa jujau shorts are more useful for bringing viewers to a main channel, it's not something you can make a living off of. This channel has a huge viewership and the amount of comments telling him he's doing it wrong gets his videos put onto the algorithm more, meaning more viewers, negative attention is good attention according to youtube. Also this guy does actually make original content a lot of what people are familiar with so it appeals to a larger demographic . It's really a convoluted system
capasau capasau qun burritu sa jujau
25 күн бұрын
@UglyBurrito and who gets a few million views? Only a select handful! I used to have a channel where I would upload stuff that I recorded in real life (things like air shows, car races and the like) and I was lucky if one of my videos reached just 100 views. So if a few million views only gives you 5 bucks, I guess the bots needed to get your views that high are gonna cost you more than what you get in return.

@noah jones I mean a metal box doesn't really take very long. This isn't just 'clickbait' either. The point of this is for you to use your brain and take basic concepts and ideas and expand upon them to create something better and more complex. It's like opening a textbook and getting mad that the lessons don't apply specifically to you
noah jones

@Scott Atlas or he could use that time to use a metal box and at least make this idea a semi-secure one. With a wooden box this is the definition of "clickbait" and nothing else. Unfortunately it worked on us.
