the flux basically cleans and prepares the metal for soldering, and it makes the solder very liquidy to make a fancy smooth looking solder joint. it also helps the solder stick to the wire/soldering pad.

great video, but I gotta say, I really wish when you guys that know how to do this decide to do an educational video, that you really stop using the abbreviations when your talking about what to plug into things etc,, it makes it very confusing for guys like me who are trying to learn how to do this,,,, PCU, ECU, ESC,, etc,, man thats frustrating,, Try to remember that most people who are watching this have no idea and have to stop the vid many times to try to understand what it is your doing, for me , for example I started loosing you when you started talking about plugging stuff into the Naza, No problem regarding the speed controllers, 1 through 4 , but then you started talking about plugging in Ailerons, rudders etc, and you say., go ahead and plug in your correstponding plugs,,,,,,,, from where??? , again, really well made vid, but I know Im going to have to go back like a hundred times to try to get the phrasing correct,,,, thanks again ,, the vid is really good though

Tip for soldering big wires to big boards: use a high powered soldering iron for the bigger joints, as you will be able to heat it up fast and not overheat stuff on the board. I used an 80 watt iron for the big connections, and a 25 watt iron for the small, precise ones.

hello nice vid! pls heat your wire not the solder tin, you will get better contacts (reliable in long term). If you heat the wire and the solder pad togetter, you we see the solder merge into the wire and over the pad to make a good joint. the way you do result in cold joints, and more resistive joints with a lot of intermetalics. add flux will improve too to deoxyde. but great tuto! just want to help you
@nikitobg137

You should use a flux and higher temp. soldering iron because in the video your joints aren't good enough and the quad may catch fire!

What does the power management unit actually do? I've seen setups that don't use this. Also, if I have a FCB with input voltage of 4-6v, and a 3s lipo at 11.1v, how are these connected? Do I need to make a voltage divider / regulator circuit?
@Thaumatichthys
6 жыл бұрын
use an LM7805 linear voltage regulator, just put a heatsink on it. Or you could just buy a BEC, either UBEC - less efficient, but cheaper, SBEC - very efficient [less heat] but can be harder to find /expensive. but when using a BEC just make sure that you get a 5 volt bec not a 12 volt, etc.
