THIS IS GREAT! i am going to make one of these, it brings me back to my childhood when i would make little action figure bows out of toothpicks, twisty ties, and orthodontic rubber bands... they could shoot toothpicks into the wall, but they also were easy to break.
@5hredder

now to decide whether i am going to make it out of steel like yours, and just weld everything together, or if i will make it out of hardwood scraps that i have left over from my luthier work; a purple heart micro compound bow sounds interesting.

Fantatic engineering! Flat out hands down! I mean it, you use a file, hacksaw and a cordless drill oh and some heat in this video, and come of with great mini. These aren't only functional but they look amazing, no different then something anyone would buy with the exeption of being downsized to what maybe 1/5 scale. l'm definitly gonna try 1 of the simpler ones cause l have no idea how the cams would be designed. Great job and thanks for the post. Keep making them.

fishing line is not "too weak", you just shouldn't release it empty (without shooting arrow) because then forces are not transferred to the arrow to move it, but stays in the line, which is not prepared to such situations. every person who has to do with medieval weapons will tell you the same - never shoot crossbow when not loaded with arrow, because it's dangerous, line can easy break and hit you. in small scale problem remains the same, only maybe it's not dangerous but will break for the same reason

Nice work! I tried to make one, but I make small mistake. You don't specify dimensions of bow arms. result: at the first attempt I make too long arms. Another trouble is how long string should be. However thanks for templates and tips. Still work on it and will finish my crossbow in future.

One little request: Could you somehow, maybe make a video or explain below this comment, how the hell you string that string? I pretty confused how its done, not to say your video is bad it just seems quite complex. And i don't mean what material the string is made of but how exactly its stringed, which way does the string go and where the ends are attached etc. I tried to watch carefully from your video but couldn't quite make clear of it. I'd appreciate if you'd explain it, thanks!
@WeaponTutorials
7 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure if you saw part 2 of this video, if you haven't just go and check that out because at the beginning of the video I showed how to attach string on the bow. If it's still not clean or if you have some questions reply to this again and I'll explain!
@ArnoldSig

Raduka Oh thank you very much I have no idea how I missed that! I somehow assumed it would be in this Part 1 video. And now that I've got your attention haha, Im planning on making this in 2x size by the help of your templates, so do you happen to know (since you seem to have some experience with crossbows) if all the dimensions need to be doubled? Mostly I'm talking about the bow, of course double the length of them but about doubling their width? Do you know if thats necessary?

Might i ask for more detailes, because the video is silent and there's little to no information about the kind of steel/metal that you use, example, i have no idea what kind of metal you use for the arms of the crossbow, the thickness, etc. Same with the measurements, i would like to request said measurements and kinds of metal to be either in the template, or the video, so we have a slight start to what we can find so we can make it ourselves, and possibly expound on other thicknesses/metals, rather then experimenting from the get-go

wait wait wait... he didn't use lead electric solder to solder those nails to the spring steel did he???????? overall, i'll say this. I've watched all of the videos. and it's a COOL concept, a COOL idea, and a COOL project, but, he did a lot of things that i think could make someone end up in the hospital if they tried to replicate them. that's not me just being paranoid. that's me being a fabricator and messing with a lot of metal, knowing what i can or can't do. yeeeeessshh... this thing scares me... but.... it IS cool..

Raduka like i said, its really cool. and shows a lot of ingenuity. i just worry about other viewers not taking things into consideratiob that you did, to make it work. like not hammering those nails enough and having a cam explode under pressure, or having the hole on the end of the ramp be too small or something weird and shooting a xbow bolt into their skull lol. just little things. but i really truly am impressed with this. it shows that something cool can be made with a minimal amount of tools.
