It’s not exactly showing someone how to make a beat...how about showing your screen so people can see what you’re looking at...if I was a beginner looking at this I would not know where to start. I don’t even know what program you’re using and if I never used a keyboard before, doesn’t explain how it’s connected to the pc. The only thing I can see here is you’re showing that you know what you’re doing but not really teaching anything that can be applied right away cause of the lack of info

Hey Dj Selphi, thanks for your feedback. The video wasn't meant to be a "tutorial as such". It was meant to be a broad overview for the general public. This channel is designed for kizomba dancers.. although dancers follow the music, a lot of them have no understanding of how the music they dance to came to be. Something too detailed would be probably boring to watch as it wouldn't cater to dancers but to producers and sound engineers only. Regarding what I have used, I work with Cubase 8.0. And the VSTs were a combination of the Yamaha Motif ES vst as well as a few others. :)

Wow this is actually giving me so many ideas. I often hear songs and think they'd be so nice if they were remixed. After watching your video i'm getting super interested to try doing it myself. Do you have any tips for what equipments or applications i should get to start off with? I messaged on Facebook also, feel free to respond to me there! :D

Hi Angie, thank you so much for your comment. Although it's amazing how excited you are about doing Kizomba remixes, I do have to tell you that composing music (even if in a remix) is a craft that can take a few months or even years to master as you will be learning an entire world of not only music composition but sound engineering as well. This being said, to compose I usually use Cubase as my production software. Depending on what you want to make u also may need sound libraries. Most DAWs (digital audio workstations) nowadays already come with sample libraries built in so it should be fine to get you started. A lot of people tend to use FL Studio, Studio One, Logic (for MAC), Abelton Live etc... Watching a couple of tutorials on music production could be quite useful as well. I hope this helped and good luck 😀

The best way is to try to recompose a new phrase that you know will link well with the main part of the beat. In order to test that play it before and after the main beat to see if it fits :)

To be honest this video was sooo long ago that I can't remember lol. But most sample packs have instruments that are good for it. I have also noticed that the Trap drumkits are good for kizomba as well.

can you do a tutorial on fl studio or explain how you mad the drum pattern a little more in-depth for people who don't use hard ware to make beats I love this genre of music but not use to the drum patterns yet also where can I find some dope afro beat drum kits

Hi Moody, unfortunately I dont produce in fl studio (I use Cubase) so I wouldn't know how to explain it. Kizomba music is really nice. If you listen to this genre a bit more u will totally get the drum sequence of it as it always follows a pattern. I hope this helped :)

Very interesting! It seems you used Cubase. Have you tried doing it with Logic Pro X too? Is Cubase easier to make Kizomba than LPX? Also what kind of instruments is used for the main lead at 5:34, complementary, variations,...? I often hear cool leads (sometimes the same kind of instrument) in Kizomba but have no idea what was used. Thanks! Ps: you got one more subscriber! Found this on reddit by the way. Nice song too!

This was more of an overview for the general public about production. I didn't want to bore any non-musician watching it hahaha. By the way, nicely spotted on the Cubase. Was it the Metronome that gave it away? hehehe on this one I have used the Yamaha Motif ES VST for some percussion and a Trap VSTs for the main drums (808 MAssacre) and lead instruments (Deck Head) :)
