Excellent use for these double gauze fabrics. I would use cotton or bamboo/silk or wool batting for a baby. No synthetics around little ones. The rounded corners are awesome. Bias binding with the same fabric would also work well too. I would bind it by hand. Thank you!

I love the quilt that you made. I've made a few muslin swaddle wraps for my new grandson, which my son & daughter-in-law love. They have a specific colour scheme for baby, and I was able to choose the right colour. I now feel inspired to make a muslin quilt with a nice print on one side. Thank you so much for sharing. 😁

Could you please explain what kind of muslin? A beginner sewer may not know that there are different types of muslin……some are harder or thicker not good for a baby ,then you have the type of muslin that you are using.
@ElenaMarieSewing

I think it’s technically bubble type gauze, but a thin soft muslin is great. You can also buy swaddles and use that

@@ElenaMarieSewing They are not the same at all. Gauze, and most of what we see available right now is actually double gauze, is a much looser weave than muslin. They would make up a very different type of blanket.

Thank you for sharing this! I’ve been trying to find a tutorial for something like this. How has the batting held up with washing? My son has a Bebé au Lait blanket but it doesn’t have batting inside. Is it as cozy as 4 layers of muslin?
@ElenaMarieSewing
2 жыл бұрын
So so glad this was helpful ☺️ I have washed this maybe 5 times so far and it is still in perfect condition! Maybe overtime it will breakdown, but so far so good. You could absolutely do 4 layers of muslin! May not had as much loft (fluffiness) as mine, but would still be very nice. You could also choose a different cotton batting that has less loft, but may hold up better with washing. Let me know what you choose and how it turns out!

After using and washing this blanket, did you find that the materials moved too much/loosened in between your quilted lines?? I'm in the process of making something very similar using muslin but am having a really hard time with the amount of movement! Thanks!
@ElenaMarieSewing

I have washed mine a few times and so far it hasn’t been an issue. I think after a long time it may start getting lumpy but mine has held up to this point. You could always add a few more lines of quilting, or using a thinner cotton batting may help too. Good luck!

@CarlyW Of course! You want to aim for a low loft batting. For this video I used Poly-Fil Low Loft batting ( www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001BDLWIO/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ) but you could also use a thin cotton batting ( www.joann.com/pellon-natural-cotton-crib-pkg-batting/11632882.html ) . The cotton batting will be thinner but slightly more dense. The poly-fil will be slightly more fluffy feeling
