What is the thing on the wall that your hanging it to?

HI Dawn - there are a few different ways to create a design wall like this one. You can buy foam insulation panels or ceiling tiles from your local home improvement store. Some people have even used foam core boards if they want something less permanent - but I find those can wear out and get banged up pretty quickly. Cover the boards with flannel or a cotton quilt batting to get your pieces to stick while you're designing. If you want more specifics - you might want to consider taking our "Photographing Your Quilts class on our Creative Spark Online Learning Platform. Not only does Vicky Conley give you great tips for how to photograph your quilts - she's got a little tutorial about building a design wall as well! creativespark.ctpub.com/collections?q=photographing+your+quilts

Can I put in a vote for how to use the 7th panel? I love to see the panel the blocks came from as the transformation is amazing...but IMHO it belongs on the back of the quilt! The OBW blocks/kaleidoscope blocks are so beautiful when grouped, you can achieve such wonderful effects with them, it is a shame to distract from that with the original panel plonked in the middle.

I bought this book several years ago. Due to health issues with my husband I I have had to re-focus. Now I am ready to start playing with all the panels I have collected.

can you just use seven 'panels' of any fabric, or do they have to have a 'scene?'

What do you mean by "make sure you put the same corner of each triangle toward the center?" Please clarify that step. Thanks for the tutorial.

Hi Rebecca - this is one of those instructions that probably makes more sense when you're at that point. You layer all 6 panels together so that when you cut your triangles all the triangles in that stack are identical. Those identical triangles are what is sewn together to make the hexi block. So for example - if one of you triangles from a block had a dolphin nose on the tip - you'd want to make sure you sew all the dolphin noses with that tip in the center for maximum kaleidoscope effect. This is a little more clear in the book when she shows illustrations for sewing together your pieces.

What size quilt would seven panels make?

Hi Mara, If you're asking this based on using seven pre-printed panels, it would depend on how big your pre-printed panel measures.

I just found out about this book and technique! Did you make one yet?

@@RadiantJasmin Yes, I did. It was challenging and I wish I would've picked a panel with more going on in it. The busier the better is what I learned. Wish I could upload a picture. I found that the video was better for me than the book was, for what that's worth.

@@tattoobabe911 Congrats on completing one! Thanks, I'll probably wait to flip through the book in person when my local independent sewing store gets it back in stock.
