This video is great! I think the audio might need a bit of a volume adjustment though. The voice over could be a bit louder, and the music turned down a bit. If I turned up the speakers to hear you better, the music got way too loud. But I love how well you explain things and it's really a pleasure to watch the video! I'm excited to see more!

Two upper respiratory infections?! You must have small children around you. I'm never going to make these but I definitely enjoyed watching you make them. I think ironing is the most underrated part of sewing, it can hide a multitude of stitching sins.

FINALLY someone made a tutorial for this style of breeches. How easy would you say this is for a beginner? I’ve made stuff in the past, but I’m starting to make more as a hobby and haven’t touched a sewing machine in years. Let’s pretend I’m a novice lol

I love the videos you've done but I'm especially enjoying this series just because it's so rare to see something that goes through the process for men's historical clothes.

Nice! I’m about to make a pair of these so watching the process is very helpful. I am using the laughing moon pattern, but it looks pretty similar. The person I’m making them for has a bit of a potbelly and no butt, so fitting should be fun... thanks for a great video!

Tip for music editing in your video. Try searching for a feature called "auto ducking" in your editing software. It will raise and lower the music volume according to the dialog, making a less jaring transition between dialog an music ;)

Of course you altered the pattern; a commercial pattern is a “standard” size, whereas a court suit would be bespoke.

Did adding a lining result in needing to change any of the measurements? And did you have to get any permissions from JP Ryan to make a video using theor patterns? After watching this one I have though about doing for non court breeches and showing the hand sewn side of this project.

Can you give me more information on cutting the pattern down to reduce the diaper butt? I'm not understanding what you said. You said 4 inches off the top and 4 inches of the middle seam. I don't understand lol! I'm making these for my husband and they are NOT flattering in the butt. LOL

Did court suits use a different type of welt pocket than the modern version or have I just been misunderstanding welt pockets this whole time??
@alexismontez4230

Not sure - but these are one way to get welt pockets in. :)I don't neccesarily do things the historically accurate way. I just cre if it looks good.

Ohhh diaper butt....can you explain where you cut to get rid of the excess? I have this pattern as well and would love to be able to modify it.
@Sewstine
4 жыл бұрын
Of course! It has to be done on a muslin copy - I usually take it from the center back seam as well as the top. Put on the muslin and then just pin and cut off the excess. :)

Remarkable piece of work ,but the fit is not on the best side ,it’s way too small ,it should go up to the waist and it should be much bigger and more fluffier on back and sitting area ;) it looks now like someone pulled the pants up by the waist band and all the crutch area is painfully burst in to him ,auch
