@@scenes1119 If this was around 8 years ago you'd have saved me a lot of time trying to extrapolate from and interpret tips and techniques from genres I'm not interested in haha. At least I learned a lot! Still lots more to learn though, so it's awesome to have a resource like this

I had no idea you could set a velocity range in Live 11, super cool! The transient envelope trick is cool too, D. Dan did a good Masterclass on working with breakbeats where I learned about that. Love your channel, thanks for doing what you do :)

Cool vid, did not realise compression is used so much. Is it purely for volume control and to make transients not clip? I only ever used it as a sidechain

Yeah I only ever used it to side chain as well but it can be a really useful tool for making your drums sound fuller! Rather than overall volume control it’s kinda used to bring up the quieter parts of your drum elements
