Your video was easy to understand, easy to see what you are doing and thorough with what I need. I have been saving straws from our take out drinks but recently discovered something really great. My kids love drink boxes. The straws that come with them work fantastic for slip bobber ties. The ones with "Capri Sun" work best as they are a little smaller diameter and there is no bend in the straw. I can easily get eight knots per straw. Thank you for such a quality "free" video.

I have tied these for years. I use cotton embroidery thread. They hold real well when wet. They don't have to be made out of something that will last for years. I use the straws my grandson saves from his capri sun drinks.

I have tried various types of line. Here's what I found. Embroidery thread, $0.20 per yard, comes apart too easily when slipping the line under the back of the knot. Dacron line, $0.15 per yard, same as embroidery thread. Fly line backing, 20 lb test $0.08 per yard (Sportsman Outdoors), works fantastic. Fly line backing cuts leaving a clean sharp tip. Slides easily under line on the back side of the knot. Pulls nice and tight on the straw and on your fishing line. Thanks Apex, keep em' coming!

Got these thinking they were the slightly larger Panfish floats kzitem.infoUgkx_rJB7cli5f1ofPVGgn80S7Yj4vqwq0gU recommend they work just fine. The smaller size lets me carry more in my tackle box, and the 3 color choices are nice for different lighting conditions, backgrounds, etc. They aren't the most durable things in the world. But, as cheap as they are, it's not heartbreaking to lose one or have to replace a worn one. The price on these fluctuates wildly, from about $9 to almost $16. So, time your buy accordingly.

@berniesbend
7 жыл бұрын
Actually it isn't a nail knot; a nail knot is used to tie two lines together. It's a simple overhand knot passed thru 5 times and is called a stopper knot or bobber stopper knot if you'd like to google it. I tie them all the time directly on my line as needed without the goofy straws. I carry the embroidery thread in with my tackle.

Well I guess I was going by your statement ". So I was wrong and apologize; butmy point is she took the time to make a video and help others and your "constructive criticism" just downed her. I too wished she'd "get to it" but fast fwd or back up is just as easy.

@BJOlson it has to be thick enough for the knot to do its job or stopping the bobber, so the knot wont slip thru the bead and bobber rendering it useless, id imagine you could find adequate line at a fly fishing section, or use 30lb+ braided line like spiderwire

Ive used it for years and it have worked flawless and its soooo smoth :) Thanks

@proxim2020

You use these to set the maximum depth for your bait using slip bobber. If you want to fish 10 feet deep, slide the knot 10 feet up the line. The setup goes: slip knot=>a bead=>slip bobber=>split shot. The knot itself can be spooled back into the reel, the rest hangs outside. After you cast, your line will slip though the bobber as your bait sinks. Once the knot hits the bead, the bait will stop sinking at that point. The split shot holds the bobber on the line.
