I took linguistic classes and they helped me improve my vocal. I love my powerful voice now. But, thanks for your great information. I will share it with other people.

I watched this video and it's helpful, but it wasn't explained how to improve some of the issues. Could you do another video that goes into more detail with examples? I hope it's not too much to ask! Or is there a way I could ask you specific questions about parts of the video? Thank you so much!

I thought this was very good information, Kara. (See what I did there? 😉😅). I do have a soft voice and tend to get interrupted a lot, by loud, and what I find are also overbearing personalities, which is absolutely maddening to me. This happened again last night at a dinner in a restaurant with 5 other women I had never met before. I left exhausted and rather frustrated as two of them dominated almost all of the conversation. I did at one point, actually address the one who interrupted everyone the most with a smile and a gentle touch on her arm, and asked her to kindly wait until I was finished my story. Thankfully, that was taken well. 🙂 I'm a singer, and so your advice on the diaphragmic breathing made perfect sense. I shall have to keep this in the forefront of my mind during my next get together.

Haha! Yes, I did see what you did using my name :) I can absolutely relate to the situation you described. It happens to me all the time in group conversations. There's always a loud person there, isn't there! It can be frustrating to start talking then have someone else talk over you. I like that you were assertive enough to kindly ask her to wait until you've finished. This can be really hard to do so it's fantastic you had the courage to do it! I'm also glad to hear that from a singer, who is experienced in breathing techniques, you feel the diaphragmatic breathing I talked about in this video works. Thanks so much for watching Debi!

Quite often the sound of our voice is due to the way our throat and vocal cords have developed. Since you're young, your voice is still developing. You may see it change over time as you get older. I would embrace the sound of your voice. Use it to naturally appear and sound more confident. Just because your voice isn't like the other girls doesn't mean you should be less confident. It's your gift! Use it to your advantage.
