That's a really good idea! I'm gonna have to try that. Might I suggest weathering the pages with coffee or tea to add a more realistic aged look rather than the random paint splotches. The coffee/tea will add the aged look of paper and the moisture should cause the pages to look well used. Don't know if this will actually work, just came to me as I was watching the video just now. You guys do some really neat things, been watching y'all for a while. Keep up the great work!

I found a neat alternative to using books. From the thrift store I got a couple of old Disney DVDs. The cases are a little damaged but that’s perfect. And once you take the DVD out it has a nice amount of space to do some things. Gonna try to see how I do on my first spooky “book” attempt

Off topic: your trip to goodwill had me thinking- when I worked a haunted house/hayride we did a "Carn*Evil", and I found a story about a circus train that crashed into another train. So when you found the small tub I was thinking about a drinking dwarf clown? 🤷 and when you found the giraffe head for the pet cemetery it made me think of the train accident.

PRO TIP: For Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios every year, there are 'Scaracters' that roam the park jumping out at people with real chain saws. The modification: no chain blade, just a loud motor with an empty bar. In the low light you could swear that chain is there.

It's sad, BUT thankfully we have Savers and other little mom and pop thrift stores to get stuff in. AH HA !!! "EYE" 👁 see what you did there... LOL "Assent of Man" pfffftt... no one reads that... but "Wicked Spells"... with a creepy eye... now THAT's a title worth reading... I have to say, I REALLY love ❤ the way it looks... by far the best spell book I've seen, the details and everything... but mainly what "sells the spells" is that animated eyeball... You've got to have that!!! Questions: Does the eye stay on the screen for very long or does it shut off? At first I thought you were going to use a LCD screen and Arduino or something or even a backlight eyeball with some kind of clever motor mechanism... also, I've seen the eyelids and book's leathery treatment done with shop towels and latex that seemed to give a similar result... really... there's probably a dozen ways to achieve the same effect....again, super! BRAVO! Looks great!

Wow, wow, wow! I attempted a similar idea last year, except with an animatronic eyeball, but I couldn’t get the mechanics to work. This is a great alternative! If you don’t want to use a real book, the cardboard book boxes craft stores work great. I covered mine in damask peel and stick wallpaper, fabric tape for the binding, and gold foil letters from my crafty neighbor’s cricut.
