Agreed! I've taught Clairo & Stevey Lacy songs to so many of my younger students and can't wait to show them this channel! Most of them are also into production (not just playing guitar) and I think this is a really, really fantastic way to learn--especially given that it's coming from someone closer to their age--and would be grateful for more videos like this & the recent one on Clairo!

the end result was to be expected, and this was a solid video. it's like any other art form or instrument. lacy has such a fluid style that the simplicity works to his advantage. the rhythm of the strumming, percussion, bass, and singing all whole that is greater than the sum of all parts. this girl's imitation was clever and her analysis was on point; but her style is so obviously different that her song would never be confused for a real steve lacy track. the influence would be very obvious though. solid video. don't copy, just take influence and create your own MMA. mixed music arts, baybeeeeeeeeeee

em makes music nice, mic stopper is new to me. I just call it a pop filter as that’s the most known name for it. I know it’s also called a popper stopper tho. I’m incredibly late on finding out about Steve Lacy. I have my own studio so at times I look for suggestions. And thus found your video. I’m still learning. I stumbled upon Steve after listening to Pride by Kendrick Lamar. Anyways thanks for your reply and for your video. Enjoy your day

i'm hella late to this video but all i would say as a pretentious steve lacy fan is that using a microphone "just because it's available" sort of goes against his philosophy and the whole bedroom creation vibes. that being said, the effects on the vocals make it sound the same haha
@emmakesmusic
4 жыл бұрын
Emilio Elias yes that’s a fair point. Steve’s always been about using what he has but he even wanted to use just his iPhone when he had access to mics. a little bit of my style thrown in I suppose. Haha.
