In order not to have the color contamination with the chroma key, you have to use the green (blue or other) correctly: be at a distance that does not reflect on the subject, light the background well and evenly and, mainly, shoot with a camera that works with 10 bits of color.
@ScottFichter
3 жыл бұрын
Hmmm, I wonder if my camera shots in 10 bit color. Thanks Daniel.
@danielborges.
3 жыл бұрын
@@ScottFichter Take a look at the manual. Several are. This makes it easier for the software to separate the colors. It gets harder with the 8-bit color ones. But be sure to experiment with the other factors: good distance and even background lighting.

Here's a couple tips to help the chroma key issue. -Move away from the screen. This helps with that green light spill. I never stand closer than 6 feet. -Light the screen evenly. You can use a couple 4' shoplights with diffusion fabric or parchment paper and it works wonders -Tighten that screen up to get rid of wrinkles. Just some of the things I have learned through trial and error.

@chrish7336

@@ScottFichterChris, well said. This is what studios like Lifetouch do for there underclass when using Chroma for various background options. There system though is only 4-5 ft from the background, but yes even lighting is a big deal. When setting their camera's up they use a program that will fire off the lights, and then read the image of the backdrop for balance. The system will automatically adjust the light power as needed to get to a proper balance and level. I think they use 3-4 lights, 2 of which light subject and background. After that they can photograph all day and in post production it significantly reduces the potential of the selected background image not being dropped in cleanly.
Thank you man. That was just another amazing tutorial from you... keep up that good work

Great video!!! Thanks! If you use a maroon backlight (from the top-45 degrees behind you head), the green spill can be controlled. It's called 'minus green' for a reason . Also as mentioned in other comments, try to use separate lighting for the green screen and sit as far away from green screen as space allows.
@ScottFichter
2 жыл бұрын
That's my problem my screen is 8 feet away. Back splash is a problem but when used on my blue green background it fine so I can live with it for now. Minus green.... cool. I will look into that.
@chrish7336
2 жыл бұрын
@@ScottFichter From a photography perspective, 8 feet shouldn't have any back splash of color if light settings are right. one recommendation I would have is to try putting in a hairlight. Low level would provide separation from the background and provide highlights on the shoulders and hair. This would also reduce the potential green back splash. If you have a photographer friend in the area, they could probably show you what I am talking about before spending the money to do trial and error. I too will have to look up minus green as I have never heard of it.

You mentioned about the green halo when using a green screen. What if I want that to disappear when I use a fixed picture background instead of a video? Sorry if its a stupid question. Beginner here. Thanks
@ScottFichter
3 жыл бұрын
One way of hiding it is using a photo that has some green in it. Have you noticed that when my head and shoulders is superimposed over my office that you don't see the line. The halo is hidden in the photo. That will help. If your in OBS Studio you'll have to adjust the chroma key filter. Damn, that makes me think of that video where a dude was using two filters. The end result was a perfect transparency.
