The mystery of how to glue clear plastic without fogging it has finally been solved. This was a very interesting fix really, such a tiny part.

That X-Wing was the first Star Wars toys I ever got as a child. It was well played with, and I still have it forty years later.

Incredible work as always, Dave! It’s funny how the yellowing on the wings suddenly looks like it’s intentional weathering once the canopy has been replaced. It’s just amazing what a difference the small details make in how complete a toy looks. Cheers!

You can get very similar nail make-up tools as that glue dropper tool from poundland. Just look in the Women's make-up section. They are 4 in the pack.

I know everybody says that 3D printers are the future but I would much rather have my own "Dave" to build things like this. Beautiful work and really cool fix! Can't wait to see the fleet you're going to build. That canopy glue is huge in the modeling world. You can even fill in small open areas (e.g. the windows of a small scale Enterprise) and they dry clear, for the appearance of "glass".

Cool, you actually have the Y-wing fighter! I haven't seen that since it was on sale in stores. Of all the SW toys I never had as a child, that was the one I wanted most. This video is absolutely amazing! Your extra pair of hands solution is brilliantly simple, and perfect for such small, detailed work. Since the glue is clear when dry, does it work for filling gaps or imperfections in the edges, sort of like caulking? The canopy looks awesome, better than the original, I think. All around excellent job, as always!

Looks loads better. I was wondering if you could use dental gel to make a mould, and then use clear epoxy resin for a matching part? I suppose it requires an original part, and maybe the resin would be brittle. Always wondered though, maybe you should give it a shot!

This is effing great dude. Ye see alot of these X-Wings on ebay and the like missing their canopies for a discount. From the looks of it making one's not that much of a project at all thanks to yer template! I've been buying up the old Kenner Diecast jawns for a while now (I bought a Millennium Falcon to replace one I lost as a kid, I bought something like 5 or 6 Star Destroyers to make a fleet, I think I got a snowspeeder around here somewhere), but I've been holding off on picking up an X-Wing since they all looked damaged. With this though maybe it'll be worth it to give one a home and remake the canopy manually.
