Dose the wire hold the weight of the light socket and bottle or do you have to bolt something to the wire or bottle?

is there a chance for the glass to break from the lamp heat?

They definitely do get hot but I've run them 24 hours a day for several days and never had an issue. The melting point of bottle glass is far hotter than these will ever get. My advice would be #1) Don't touch them, and #2) Use a bulb that doesn't generate a lot of heat, such as an LED bulb. You can find LED Edison bulbs that have that cool "retro" look but still don't generate a lot of heat or use a lot of electricity.

@@TheRenaissanceCaveman I'll second that. The LED retro style bulbs are beautiful and never get very hot.

While the glass may be ok, the bulb itself may shatter, potentially causing a fire or broken glass danger. Led bulbs will help, but be sure you check that they’re rated for enclosed fixtures.

Or any building supply store, or your neighborhood big box store beginning with W.

Mine works too. I used the Woodglut plans and performed it without any problems.

Instead of a standard knot, you should use an underwriter’s knot. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Underwriter%27s_knot
