Great Video, i've been wanting to make my own shift knob for awhile now. Your videos are very helpful. I'll definitely be trying this soon

rather use a couple of coats of CA glue...it a great wood sealer. I use is for coating my guitars. sand down to about a 1200 then start coating, sand in between coats to get it all level. Sand last coat down to 2000 water paper (put some dish washing soap in the water)...then buff it. it looks like polished marble and is just as hard.

what kind of wood did you use for it? and what woods would be best?

+Andrew Suominen that's a tough question, cause that's all scrap wood and I am not an expert in identifying woods. But I love to use bocote and olive.

Andrew Suominen is say walnut, oak and maple. I’d avoid cedar tho because it tends to break easier from my past experiences.

Nice finished product. However, you should really consider balancing the audio of your videos. I have to turn it up to hear your voice then turn it down when you fade the music back in. Cheers.

Hi Kyle, that was some scrap wood I glued with simple wood glue and then clamped it. Nothing special.
