Dear fucking lord I finally found a video related to my issue. Dunno whats up with the new akko lines but they dont seem to fit the outemu sockets anymore Im gonna use an 80 grit instead to see if that works out better
@scellyyt
6 ай бұрын
I think you will struggle with 80 grit, it is so coarse that it would easily catch on the pins and bend them. I would suggest at least 400 grit.

I can confirm it does work just fine for me, obviously the chance that it will work for each switch isn't 100% because it's a manual job and you have to sand it down by eye.

I wish there was just one big standard for hotswap switches
@matttan4404

@@scellyyt whilst that would be the most ideal, cost cutting is necessary for budget boards like these. For an extra $10-$20, you could've gotten an RK board with at least the normal hotswap sockets. In the grand scheme of things, I am sure most would choose to just pay that little extra.

Technically speaking, does sanding the pins and removing the fourth and fifth plastic pins somehow make the switch worse? I’m asking in case i upgrade from my Redragon board for a new one with fully hotswap switches.
@scellyyt
2 ай бұрын
I don't see why it would. This keyboard cannot facilitate the plastic pins anyways so they would not provide any benefit for this board. If you are going to buy a new keyboard though you might as well get one that fully supports these 5 pin switches from the factory.
@vorteil7
Ай бұрын
@@scellyytYeah, but now that i think about it buying a new keyboard just to have the 2 additional pins for stability isn’t worth it at all, as countless switches just use 3 pins, like outemu sockets do, and their stability is good

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I had a look at their website, and it seems like the Akko V3 Pro switches that are 5 pin (like the one in this video) don't fit the Outemu sockets, whereas the Akko CS switches that are 3 pin will fit. Hope this helps?
@scellyyt

I think this is correct, I knew that I had to snip off the plastic pins from the start but didn't know about the actual conducting pins being too large.
