Euh... It's not exactly an idea, a better formulation would be "an antique idea", if you ask me. Because i know that Karl Baum patented it in 1985 and then Vladimiro Mazzilli took over around 2008, although the patent was released to the public domain in 2009 as i recall. So, there that "antique" word missing IMHO, not to mention Mazzilli called his a "Royer ZVS", in reference to yet another patent dating back to 1954!! And all this time some fundamental design flaw remained uncorrected, simply because of economic considerations prioritized of reliability and safety. M'well, i'd just want my IH driver to be indestructible and never pose any security threats whatsoever - but that's me. What saddens me most with this unfinished prototype is repeated failures NOT to jump on opportunities to perform mild corrective moddifications to improve the circuit and concept, 'cause as it is we all know the PSU needs to assume what's missing in a power stage using yet another power device, euh... Oh, and the worse aspect of it is that this black-box device can only implement protective measures once it has detected a faulty condiction in this "ZVS" whatever it is called on eBay today! Last week on YT another individual posted about that same "module" and before him another, since the topic has triggered some kind of flooding many years ago. But contrary to the usual stuff one guy demonstrated audio modulation by exploiting the nature of a very old magnetic component where a continous "bias" current could modify the magnetic properties of the RF Choke (in a center-tapped layout) and consequently cause a workload to play music... The nice detail about it being that we can presume it's actually a bi-directional galvanically-isolated and most affordable way to perform some feed-back coupling capable of generating signals expressed in these 3 different dimensions: Amplitude Frequency Phase Now that's a most usefull item to carry in your toolbox, because it turns out in this particular application the D.C. state is a forbiden one: that's a self-driven circuit that must keep ticking of it will challenge the PSU until it resets, or worse. Which is why clever posters use automotive power cells, because "it works" on the video... But i'm a demanding individual i guess, so the sight just blinds me when i see people realize that RF Choke can assume a double or even a tripple function with only the addition of one or two secondaries! I mean, think of it... Zero Hz (D.C.) conditions can get detected most conveniently using little more than a "watch-dog" timer, euh... So, is that too much asking to expect something that generic to have been added to this "modular" prototype since its initial conception in the '80s?!! And if one is into perfectionnism, why not think of a PLL chip too! As that could serve to "lock" (close) a retro-action loop center on a target phase/frequency itself reflecting the "Tank Resonator" natural frequency. But then i'll have to refer to papers published by major silicon foundries and universities - please read them or even go talk with them and certainly not here i figure. The most inspiring documentation came from Infineon about their MA12070, because it's "filterless", more or less... But certainly quite an improvement as that concept gives the means to address EMI issues. Etc. Another greatly stimulating datashhet is that of Allegro's ACS733 as it includes both a digital hall-effect current level comparator on top of a Zero HZ ~ Mhz analog output... So, having direct access to all critical control points including a local reference clock that would pave the way to "scanning" the workload, i presume, but then again that's only a suggestion of novel avenues to explore and in need of serious assistance i'd try HAM Radio forums. Forget about "free energy"! Of course if one is into melting precious metals on a large scale then, m'well, the fun begins! ... My opinion being that at some point it may because necessary to think of flux-concentration - which is exactly what the other poster focussed on. Demonstrating the shortcomings of an air-core selenoïd. While on top of that i'd add a real invitation to "Flex the Flux", and more exactly to split/redistribute power over multiple poles as in a stepper motor, or better yet: a 2-stages 6-poles assembly where the single magnetic vector of a selenoïd gets replaced by 18!! The trade-off being about taming down electrical stress points, or making room for more power with a same stress level... Etc., etc.
