Revisions (the first book from Photics) has returned. This time, it's available as an ebook. While converting this science fiction novel to ePub, a lot of useful lessons were learned. It seemed like a great topic for a video!
Calibre was used as an alternative to Apple's Pages and as an alternative to Apple's iBooks Author. The former is not that powerful for creating next generation digital books, while the latter has been discontinued. 🙀
While converting Revisions to an eBook, Calibre performed rather well. It's powerful software. And in using it to improve the book, here's what was learned…
• How to pronounce Calibre 🤭
• Adding custom HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
• Fixing curly quotes with Smarten Punctuation
• Using RegEx to quickly find and replace text
This video is a general overview of the Calibre - Lulu combo for self publishing. If you need more in-depth technical help, you could try posting a question in the comment section. Maybe I can help. Perhaps if there is significant demand, “A Book About Making eBooks” could be a future book from Photics. 🙂
