It's because of Sailrite and the great company that it is I started my marine canvas and upholtsery business in cottage country Canada and loving it to this day. Great work Sailrite.

I like the sides edges straight and never use binding anywhere unless I made a mistake or the fabric is too short. I double hem every edge, it only requires an inch and two folds.

One thing that would save you a lot of time would to cut the zipper with a hot knife and melt the zipper teeth on each side so that they slightly expand and stop the zipper. Works Flawless! Trust me I've done it lots and lots of times. Wouldn't pay a dime for that cheap sewing machine though. Get a good quality Durkopp Adler machine will save you enough time and work that it'll pay for itself even faster than that one. But overall very nice job!

Hi - thanks for the excellent video. It was very helpful. To sew the last 2" of the velcro zipper flap - the outside 1/3 of the window is rolled up and needs to be under the sewing machine arm to complete? Thanks.

Great job. The "toothed" presser foot doesn't leave marks on the clear vinyl when sewing the facing strips?
@SailriteDIY
7 жыл бұрын
As long as the presser feet are on the canvas facing, they will always be higher up than the clear vinyl which is directly under the facing, so no toothed marks are made.

You skip how the facings are made. Were they premade?
@SailriteDIY
7 жыл бұрын
The straight 2" facings were purchased, it is manufactured. You can find them here: www.sailrite.com/search?keywords=sunbrella%20facing Any facing that included a curve was made to match the curve.

Any facing that is not straight and cannot be purchased you would have to make yourself. Here is a video showing how to make the outside facing strips yourself. kzitem.info/news/bejne/mWdsyZp7hJZ5nHom58s

The reason people pay thousands for canvas is because it’s reinforced and built to last with reputable materials .. I work for a canvas shop stuff we build and put out last 15 .years + . Our thread alone is 600 bucks for a 1 pound spool ... it cracks me up to see people shitting on canvas shops for charging thousands .. quality and craftsmanship is what you get with us . Very poorly made Bimini man .. single sided flap. your port and stb sides aren’t even reinforced lol... god dam I’m good at canvas too bad I can’t grow good weed tho .
