Love it. I've made several of these now, but twist one end 90 degrees, kind of like Dangerfield's "zed wrench", so that one end is great for TOK, the other end, BOK. The TOK end is much shorter, of course, and twisted at just such an angle that's it's more ergonomic, a little bit like Chris Capune's wrench but w/o the twist in the shaft, obviously. I'm still refining it, but for EDC, it's great to have a more or less "all in one" plug wrench; I keep one with my Rivpick in a repurposed leather tweezers pouch. Another thing I've experimented with is to taper the thickness of the ends so that it starts as a .8mm and thickens to a 1.2mm nearer the shaft, to accommodate different keyways widths, again, shooting for the ultimate do-it-all wrench. It's not ideal, as this diminishes its surface area contact but for EDC, it's okay. Hopefully it doesn't harm the brass any.

I like the way you can easily make them in different thicknesses, so they're better than wiper inserts in that way. Great video thanks, off to the op shop tomorrow...

Ah good old bicycle spokes. Excellent tensioners. Stainless steel, shy away from the carbon fiber, exotic alloys, etc. But the standard stainless is surprisingly solid material. Good video D. Sorry about the finger ☹️. Even used motorcycle spokes. But way to thick in the gauge. A lot of prep work. Heal up the finger and take care of yourself D. Cheers.

Just looking at these tension wrenches has me thinking about other uses. Seems like you could just as easily start making your own dimple pick tips.

@@ListentoGallegos yep. There's a few folks who make their own dimple flags from music wire. Check out the videos Nigbee made recently showing the process.

@@Dmaclocksport Yeah I think I've seen his videos. People seem to use music wire and ejector pins to make dimples. Never saw bicycle spokes though.

Using spokes would be a lot stronger than making them out of wiper blades. I find this style of tension wrench seems to to be a lot harder to make without snapping he wipers blade. Thanks for this video, cheers
@Dmaclocksport

No worries. I've found wiper blades to be a bit brittle when bending and so have not had great success with them. Spokes however are very easy and very strong too 👍🏻

Very cool. Question - with TOK wrenches, what are the little hooked bits for that you see on some of them often near the serrations on a serrated one?

Do it! Great tensioners. No serrations needed as far as I've found. You can make these lock specific for a tighter fit by doing more or less bangy/grindy 👍🏻

Nice, that'll work a treat. The beauty with these is that you can vary the thickness for different keyways 👍🏻
