Question please; your oven setting of 200, is it medium, low, or high?
@SpicyDeliciousGoodness

@@storieswithauntyogeswaog1430 I am not sure if you are referring to my oven temperature. But if you are, it is in Fahrenheit and 200 is low. Thanks for watching.

Thanks so much. I use electric stove and I did not notice any remarkable difference in the bill. And besides, it is cheaper for me to make it than to import it from Nigeria. The cost of importing it from Nigeria will be equivalent or more than my electric bill for 6 months to a year. Thanks for watching

Do you need to refrigerate to preserve it? Can we dry ut ybder the sun?
@SpicyDeliciousGoodness

You can refrigerate it if you want but you don't need to. Tiko is not usually sun dried.

Can I use coal pot and charcoal? I don't have oven
@SpicyDeliciousGoodness

Yes you can. That is even preferable. The flavor from the smoke gives it that traditional tiko taste. In that case you might not need to add all those flavors I added. Thanks for watching.

Can it be used for cooking like that or still need to boil(steam it)? You mentioned any kind of soup,will it be ok for stew? Also can the meat be boiled well seasoned before drying? Lovely video, thanks for sharing 💞
@SpicyDeliciousGoodness
Жыл бұрын
Yes you can cook it like that but you have to add it to the soup on time so that it can soften. You can also boil it before adding it to any soup. As par using it to cook stew, the choice is yours. If you love it so much you can add it to whatever you want. There is really no need to season the meat or cook it before drying. Traditionally tiko is only smoked and left to dry. No need for salt or any seasoning but since I cannot smoke it that's why I seasoned it to add flavor (Smoke is flavor). Except you want to season it very well like you said, if not, there is no need for that because the meat is going to get cooked during the drying process. I hope I answered all your questions. Thanks for watching.

the first one you made. i mean the very dry one. how long does it last?
@SpicyDeliciousGoodness
8 ай бұрын
I really cannot remember how long because it was long ago. So just dry it as long as possible then continue to air dry it. The longer you air dry it after dehydrating it, the drier it would be. Thanks for watching.

How can I store the bone dried meat without a fridge or freezer please 🙏
@SpicyDeliciousGoodness

I have left mine out for up to 8 months and they did not go bad. I just left them open and they continue to dry. Make sure they are protected from flies and anything that can contaminate them. I hope that answers your question.

Meat can be dried in the sun but because tiko is thicker, it is not advisable to dry it under the sun. Thanks for watching.

The meat continues to dry even after the initial drying. So the longer (days/weeks/months) it stays exposed to air the dryer it becomes. Thanks for watching.

What temperature would I have my oven for 12 hrs??
@SpicyDeliciousGoodness
2 жыл бұрын
I normally set my oven to any temperature lower than 200 degrees F or 90 degrees C but it is generally recommended to set it to temperature ranging from 130 to 170 degrees F or 50 to 80 degrees C. Thanks for watching.
