@NemanjaNislija

As far as armor goes you are actually right to put more protection on the left arm - historical armor was done this way because the most common strike you'd encounter was a downwards diagonal cut from the opponent's right hand (most people are right-handed), which would fall on your left shoulder or side of the neck or face. The right arm was way back, and the right shoulder needed the extra mobility to make the swing effective. So, it's not just a matter of preference, but a matter tactical soundness and practicality. It takes a fighter to think of these things intuitively, while video game devs just go for the "cool" factor, so kudos for the build.

@sheep1ewe
9 жыл бұрын
I think it also had to do with movements, the left hand was possible to lock in a more fixed position (think alefthanded person had to train in use the right hand, at least in Japan every left handed child got intense training in using the right hand as the weaponhand) but many armurstyles, most of them made for foot combat, had equal armour on both shoulders. So i think it´s accurate to choose what one personally find thebest combination, and, Yes,You hawe a good point there...
@fringis1
9 жыл бұрын
Sheep_Ewe you should try out some midieval style fencing some time, it's real fun, but no you can't lock up anything. If you do there's no way to transfer the energy of a hit. it'll just spin you. You need to be able to move to a hit, and then recoil from it. Also leftys still get the shaft like that. You left handed in the marine core? Good for you, that rifles right handed and you best make it work son.
@sheep1ewe

fringis1 Yes, that´s why functional medieval armour often looks ridiculosly large on the wearer... :D Personally i dont think those stiff armours actually where made for war, suppose they where more of sporting armour. If you want some good drawings and pictures of historic armour for inspiration check out George Cameron Stone's book "A Collection of Arms and Armor From All Countries and All Times." I may have misremembered part of the title and I didn't even attempt to append the sub-title, but you should be able to find it. I would recommend making your own rivets rather than using pop-rivets since making you own rivets will give you the option making sliding rivets, turning rivets and decorative rivets (much beloved by makers of brigandine and jazzerant armors).

Nonlethalbychoice No it can't, Not unless its hollow point.. An FMJ would easily punch through 1/4" of industrial grade steel.. Would need to be specialty stuff. The stuff you made in this video wouldn't stop any kind of bullet, It looks cool but a .22 or an 1k+ air rifle could pierce it
@ZNA_Productions

John Montgomery That's exactly what I said. He asked what caliber bullet it could stop, and I said "In aluminum, I doubt any", the armor is aluminum. Never claimed it could stop bullets, not sure why you're acting like I did. And sorry, but 1/4 steel does stop 9mm: 9mm vs 1/4" steel

It's cool. And well then I don't know what to say, the vid I provided shows 1/4" steel easily stopping the 9mm, but if you're convinced you've shot through it before, I guess we're at an impasse. It's whatever, we don't have to pursue this.

Clearly, people don't pay attention to a damn thing anybody says anymore. This guys video clearly states that he isn't building BALLISTIC armor. It's impact armor. Just because something is called "body armor" doesn't mean it's bullet resistant. Aluminum plate like that wouldn't stop a decent pellet rifle. Steel comes in different grades. Ballistic grade steel starts with a specific alloy that is then hardened, heat tempered and plasma cut to shape It is dense and it is HEAVY. My Ar500 steel plates in my entry vest weigh over 7 pounds each at 10x12x1/4 inch. I have a steel gong target that is 6" in diameter and 1/2 inch thick. That will stop some rifle rounds below a 7.62x51mm NATO inside of 100 meters depending on the projectile. Stop putting words in his mouth. What he HAS made is fairly decent for most direct force blunt impact. A baseball bat, sure. A tomahawk with a hardened steel prong... not a chance in hell. It might stop a steel blunt target tip on a recurve bow. A hardened steel bodkin arrowhead?.. say goodnight Irene.

I just have a question: how fast can you move in this? I'm trying to write a realistically grounded tale of a batman inspired vigilante who probably relies heavily on parkour, and because I have such a picky sense of realism, I want his armour as protective, but with as much free movement as possible. I'd say his gear is very similar to a lot of stuff you've made, because he had to make it out of things he scavenged together.

Aluminum is one of the weakest metals with one of the lowest melting points. Titanium is just as light as aluminum and would suffice as a more sufficient piece of armour. If you are going into strong detail with this, say titanium, not aluminum.
@henrylafferty4814
7 жыл бұрын
well your character depending not the story and his budget could use steal or titanium as D4B mentioned. Titanium would be ideal but it could be a good goal for later on in the story, maybe an associate gives him an upgrade or something. For how fast you can move depends on 2 main things. the build and training. If the armor is extremely segmented it will provide for more movement (although less protection from blades since the can slide in-between). For training if the character trains with the armor, runs with it, boxes with it basically works out with it on he will become accustomed to the weight and how to move with it. You could always keep the armor only to the torso, and keep smaller thinner plates on upper arms, and thighs protecting the most important bits.

Sports referee is very recommended, and they're a lot of fun. If you take the time to think of what you're good at (example: riding your bike) you an think of available jobs that use that skill (example: newspaper delivery). As with the metalworking that you hope to do, you also need creativity to get some money. Good luck from a guy who came from the same position!

Geesus what an in depth video with plenty of ideas. Nice to see someone on youtube make/explain something so simply and to the point with out the jargon. Love the suit and I am on a mission to make a full blown top to bottom terminator outfit with revolving guns, ski boots and voice changer into face mask made from motorbike helmet;) Have subscribed and gunna plod through your other videos.

Use carbon fiber. May be a bit heavy, but bulletproof-ish. (3-4 layers.)

I just wanted to say that I am so happy for you and your channel and I love watching your videos. I love your ideas and creativity. I love to here all the lessons you have to teach not only about builds but also about life such as staying with your commitments and letting your failures build you up instead of destroying you. You have become a sort of role model for me and I wanted to thank you for adding wisdom and teaching in my life when I have so little of it. And even if you don't see this, I just want to say thank you for all your hard work and thank you for all that you have given.

12:03 "I just kinda wanted to reassure you guys that nothing has changed. I... I will be a professional youtuber one day and I will have you guys to thank for.." (might have gotten the last few words wrong) No dude, THANK YOU for the amazing video. Just discovered you(definitely watching more of your vids, subbed, of course!) and I know it is a 7 year old video, but it sure is a heartwarming moment of honesty and ambition from a younger you. Much love from half a world away. Cheers from India 🇮🇳

Crazy times right now. This stuff would come in handy. There are materials that would stop a knife. With padding could handle blows with bats. Mavbe even small caliber firearms.

ZednoughtAlpha Alluminum, is a very weak matterial for an armor, and yes i know steel is too heavy, but carbon fiber with keblar on top of it, its the perfect combination, theres an spanish (with that i mean Spain/España (not SouthAmerica(no offense intended))) company that does all that work for you ( www.clipcarbono.com/ ), you can send them plastic (or alluminum) models and they send you the carbon-keblar plates with the thickness materials or whatever properties you need, check it out!

Hey, love the video! Really inspiring! I'm looking for somebody to create a samba costume with an armour shell, however i'm based in London. Would you know of anybody here that would be available/able to make this sort of creative costume? Cheers ZNA!

I think you might be able to modify the armor by placing a half-circle of raised metal around your neck, designed to stop attacks from behind aimed at the neck by knives, bats or swords. It would rest on a metal base that in itself protects the collarbones. I guess I'm saying the half-circle would look like that thing Konoha ninjas have on their uniforms in "Naruto". This thing around Kakashi's neck: images4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20100423165761/denaruto3/de/images/4/4b/Kakashi.png Anyway, keep up the good work!

I am issuing a challenge to you, Nonlethalbychoice. You're quite good at making armor for the upper body, but I want to see if you can make just as effective (riot) armor for the legs and waist.

How about making a full upper body armor with the motorcycle armor and soft ballistic body armor underneath then apply the aluminum panels on top of that, Now not only do you have armor that will protect you from blunt force but you now have bulletproof protection with the ballistic panels from gun shots, make one and name your price !!!!!! P.S. paint it Black.

The motorcycle body armor you purchased, is not designed to bolt anything to, you made it weak & useless, unless you wear it for Halloween.

Why don't these flicks with fckn Jake Gilonthal or whatever the Fck get a prior DI or at least a Marine to instruct them on how to get shit somewhat similar to actual MC training. I am talking about the preview before this vid BTW
