Have you tried tile grout for mortar? I think it’s more to scale.. your wall/bricks looks great though.

@@DIOWORKbyErikWestberg 2 ways of doing. One is mix with your water and color, apply and wipe off.. like you did here. Another is to put over bricks dry and work in with brush. Then use a damp sponge to wipe off. The water in sponge activates the grout. You’ll just need grout in color you want. I like second method as it looks best for me. I’d give it a shot on a scrap piece.

Can I ask, what dimensions you use for your doorways? Ive measured my door at home, and scaled it to 1/35th, but it looks far too small!!! Great work, and a great video too. Regards Andy
@DIOWORKbyErikWestberg
Жыл бұрын
Hi Andy, I always try to use real dimensions on all parts. If you build a building out of foam and all dimensions are correctly in 1:35 scale then it is correct. It could be a problem if the figures you are using are a bit large for their scale. For example Verlinden figures are quite big compared to other manufacturers. If you think it look to small for your taste, then enlarge 10%, but never more than that. That is my opinion. /Erik

Why did you not apply the grout first and then paint the bricks??
@DIOWORKbyErikWestberg
2 жыл бұрын
Easy answer, I love the way the grout/mortar blend and weathering the painted bricks. Afterwards you can repaint some of the bricks to make them pop out. Anyway, this is the way I prefer to do it. You do as you want:) /Erik
@DIOWORKbyErikWestberg
2 жыл бұрын
One more thing, if you paint all the bricks after you applied the grout, there is a risk of getting a lot of brick color between the bricks on the grout, and that is a big NO NO I think. Cheers

@@DarkSketchbooks You will have to use a wash and only place it on the mortar, not over the hole wall. It’s not a quick fix, to make it good you will spend some time. Mortar on a wall usually have different colors, light on top and darker near ground. Next time if you want darker mortar you could add paint in the putty before you place it on the bricks. /Erik
