My Dawg! The drill and sandpaper got me over the hump. Common sense is a superpower.

Haha. Right?! There are so many specialized tools to make chopsticks. Seems dumb. Just chuck it on a drill, sand, and enjoy. Glad you liked it!

Just made a pair. Thank you for the idea/technique! Watched this a while ago, and thought about it again while pondering dinner. This was so easy and quick to make.

Using a finish on any wood product that youre going to eat with is absolutely necessary. Love the process and I'll definitely be using that. But theres also some bad information in this too.

Simplest method I’ve seen yet. For me these are both too chunky and too pointy. But that’s the nice thing about this method, they are easy to customize.

Loved your video! Very informant, and clear about everything. Contemplated so long making a pair excited for my first attempt

Fine Woodworking recently had a nice piece on riving boards for straight grain. This would be a nice application.

Would it be possible to run through appropriate wood as some will impart flavours and even toxins that a naturally from the wood/s.

Thanks Chris! Plan a couple of extra blanks for practice. It’s easy to tilt the drill incorrectly and potentially make a mistake. Cheers!

Thanks for this video! What are the dimensions of the piece of wenge wood you are starting with?
@WoodcraftBySuman

Hi Blake- I don’t recall the original stock but the individual pieces I have at hand (left over from the proj) seems to be 5/16”x5/16” and 10.5” long. That gives you some working room for the drill chuck. Finished length of around 9.5” is pretty good.

You can buy square 3/8 stock at home centers, woodworking stores, online. I believe I mention in my video that i'm opting to mill my own stock which requires more tools.

Mineral oil is not natural, it is a petroleum product. Stop telling people to put motor oil on kitchen products.
