Hullo Liz! Perhaps you could let us know what the other plants used were? There is something "grassy" there that looks perhaps like pampas, and a variegated shrub of some description. It can't be pampas because that is too big. I'm not a bad gardener but I couldn't say for sure what all those things are!

I just made a few wreaths last weekend while camping in the high desert of central Oregon. I took wire, snips, and grapevine wreaths I made ahead of time . I gathered desert sage, juniper, dried thistle,twigs,grass.....They smell great. My husband found me a small bleached skull of some small animal that I wired into a wreath made entirely of twigs. It was perfect for Halloween.

Thanks for an easy tutorial, I’ve tried making a willow wreath but it’s not turned out as well as l expected, and now I know where I’ve been going wrong I’ve been starting my circle with the thicker piece of willow at the bottom instead of bending it in the centre as you’ve shown so much easier to manage. So thank you 🙏 The wreaths look beautiful l shall be looking forward to your next tutorial.😊

Your wreath is beautiful! I make similar from garden clippings and holly that grows alongside a local footpath where we are permitted to snip 😁. I decided to comment because I wonder how long these wreaths will look good without any source of moisture. Once I have made my circle I wrap it with a thick layer of moss (we have plenty in our small garden 😐), then soak the structure overnight before adding the decorative elements. The addition of moss keeps the wreath damp for a good couple of weeks, even one hanging in a heated room was in fine shape when I took it down on 12th night. The wreath on the front door was “as new” and I regretted following tradition, next year I might leave it up longer. For those without access to willow, there are trays filled with florist’s foam that can be used year after year to spread cost and reduce environmental impact (the trays are plastic so willow is better if available). Commercially made wreaths often come in these “dishes” so worth stripping them back to use again next year. Best wishes to all at Byther Farm, and to Liz’s community, for 2024!

My grandmother had a huge one in her garden and always replenished a huge vase with the fluffy heads. I used to keep stroking them until I was told not to touch - mainly because of the vase! LOL! Evergreens lose water much more slowly than deciduous plants and as they wreaths are outside in cool temperatures, there is little evaporation and then of course the air is moist and they get rain on them. They will look a bit tired by 6th January, but the ones I have made towards the end of November usually last pretty well until after Christmas.

Hi Nikki, they fade a little, but still look good for a month or so if you keep them outside and spray lightly with water if they are in a place where the rain doesn't get to the leaves.

@@LizZorab beautiful wreaths! I have made my wreaths from Hazel or willow. The last one I made, I used ivy. Don't think that was a brilliant idea. After mossing it and putting the foliage and accessories on I was quite pleased with it. Until it came to hanging it up - it drooped! Got an egg shaped wreath, quite large and don't know how best to strengthen it. Do you have any bright ideas please?

Hi; I really liked your video and plan to make a wreath this weekend. However, I'd like to compost it afterwards, but the wire would be a problem there. Can you recommend a compostable alternative which would hold things in place? Are there any twines, string or anything else which could do the job?
