The scales you always put on is basically scale highlights correct? Plus IDK why I can't see why basslines are helpful. Isn't my 808 and kick my "bassline" lol

Yeah those can be used too and the kick is a drum, the bassline is basically a type of melody.. doesnt have to be associated with just an 808.. the 808 is just a common sound used but any low toned sound can be used over the bassline

I've watched your videos for a while and they are great for teaching and idea generation. I have a question though, why when it comes to fifths do you tell people to skip six and place one instead of just count up seven? It just seems easier to confuse that way.

Use the fl studio scale highlighting by going to the little triangle next to the wrench above the piano role, view > Scale highlighting and then pick a note and what type of scale and it will highlight all the notes in the piano roll
