Thanks Dr. Aziz this video really gives me a different perspective on this eye contact problem. This is by far my biggest problem right now and it is very crippling. I literally can’t look anyone in the eye even my own family. I’m constantly worried if I’m doing it right or not or if I’m giving too much or too little eye contact. But I really like this video because it lays out that how I view myself is how everyone else views me

You saying 'why do you think eye contact is going to be repulsive to the other person' just hit me right where it hurts. I've been struggling with eye contact for some time now and only recently have started questioning the belief that other people will be offended by my attention. I've been told that I am attractive but god is it difficult to face rejection, especially if rejection is your entire expectation.

This was so dead on. Everything you described is what I go through. I also noticed that my eyes tend to widen when I make eye contact because I'm afraid of it. I start to feel really anxious and it's worse around my superiors at work. Of course, I can see how it makes others uncomfortable or think I'm creepy as opposed to when I'm relaxed and can get those negative feelings under control.

This is a very interesting channel..I grew up in a family where no one really makes eye contact so I always felt like it was weird thing to do, like I'm invading people's privacy. I never really noticed this until recently but I typically look at people's mouth's and the center of there face rather than their eyes. I've found that when I'm speaking, and I do make proper eye contact, I tend to lose focus on what I'm trying to say because that eye contact is so powerful for some reason haha. I really want to fix this problem because I know once I do, I can achieve what I never thought possible with people.

Eye contact is a powerful tool. If someone is being flaky with me I give them an intense 20 seconds of straight in the eye. If I like what I see they get a smile, if not another few seconds might tell me what they are thinking and I can respond how I wish. The fall out intensity can take a little while to cool down but it is worth it. It once took three days but I did get the answer I was looking for, much to my advantage. A look can be worth a hundred words.

I think eye contact difficulty is self esteem issues but I also think it’s intertwined with fear. Because if you blow away all the fearful fantasies and self esteem is intact simultaneously than, goodness happens. But then again, maybe one is less fearful if there is high self esteem! 😊

This is common with just about any physical feature you can think of. For me, it was the dark circles under my eyes. It made me SO self conscious.
