How to Make Dauphinoise Potatoes: A French Delicacy
Ingredients
Potatoes - 700 g
Milk - 200ml
Cream - 400ml
Salt- 2tsp
Black pepper powder - 1tsp
White pepper powder - 1.5 tsp
Nutmeg powder - 1tsp
Shredded Cheese - 2 1/2 cups
Method
• Cut the potatoes into thin slices and keep them aside.
• Pour the milk and cream into a thick bottomed pan and whisk it nicely.
• Heat the pan on medium flame.
• When the milk starts to simmer,add the potatoes.
• Also add salt, black and white pepper powder and nutmeg powder.
• Stir it gently and cook the potatoes for 6 to 8 minutes.
• Now take a baking dish and grease it with butter.
• Line the bottom with half of the potato & milk mixture.
• Separate out the potatoes with a fork if need be.
• Put a generous amount of cheese over it.
• Spread the remaining mixture of potatoes over the cheese layer.
• Top it with some more cheese.
• Bake it in the oven preheated at 200°C for 18 to 20 minutes or until the cheese has melted completely and has turned golden brown.
• Your Potato Dauphinoise is ready to relish.
