My Foster Mother - (Respectfully & honorably like a Grandma to me) shared her Tea Cake Recipe with me and my sisters, she was an older foster mom, (when my sisters and I came into her home she was about in her late 50's or early 60's) and we were her very last foster children. In fact I was blessed to have married out of her home, I was 20 when I got married and yes my husband & I are still blessed and married 26 years and counting. May she rest in peace for I hope I made her proud💞 She was truly a gift to us in our lives❣❣❣

Looked it up because I was curious of where the name came from. Tea cakes originated in Britain and were served, as the name implies, with afternoon tea. But in the South, the cookies evolved into a special snack. In some families they were served only on holidays. ... It was a basic cookie that could be made with ingredients on hand
